I have a 7 mo old kitten with cerebella hypoplasia. When she was about 5 mos old I took her in to be examined and do a CBC prior to her spay. Well that came back with her liver enzymes extremely elevated so we put her on Denosyl. We retested after about 5 weeks and her liver enzymes were normal but her WBC were a little elevated but nothing extreme. My dr decided we could go ahead and schedule the spay. His next available date was this coming Wednesday (27th). She went into heat last night and sounds so awful
. I'm getting ready to call my vet and see what he thinks about spaying while in heat. Has anyone else had to do this? Just a little nervous about the whole thing.
Thanks for any input.

My Wrinkles was altered monday and it turned out she was in heat or just had her first heat.
I had to pay extra.
We did the lapo spay which is less pain.
She will be 7 months next sat.
I would wait until the 27th it is only a few more days.
It is bloodier if they are altered when in heat.

Yes, it is a more complicated surgery when they are in heat, therefore it usually costs more. I would give your vet a call, discuss the pros and cons and then go from there. Good luck hun!

If it's her first heat it should be mild, by Wednesday she should be done or at least tapering off.

Kitten heats usually only last 2-3 days.
