I recently got both my cats fixed. The mother is over a year and her son is almost 6 months old..
When we got them fixed the vet told us to keep the cones on for 10 days, then take them off. We took off the mothers cone after 10 days because her incision healed fine but the little one had some complications and it got infected. We decided to keep the cone on until the scab falls off so right now he still has it on but his mother doesnt.
We have noticed ever since the first day that we took off the mother's cone that whenever the kitten is in a hyper mood and goes near the mother, she hisses at him, pats him and even loudly growls sometimes. She's really agressive towards him and we want to know why?
Is it because he still has his cone on and she doesn't like it?

But yes, I can pretty much guarantee that part of the problem is that she doesn't want a cone anywhere near her after 10 days, even if it's on someone else.
Plus I'm sure it spooks her. Some of it will be the smell of her son (he had to go back to the vet, correct?), too.
