FoxNews fans, a million dollars is yours for the asking - Page 2

Nope. And I don't have a dog in this fight, which is why your plainly hostile post elicited a response for me.

Do I think they sank a Japanese ship? No.

But, if all I need is the word of the group's head to collect the money, it looks like it's an easy million dollars. Or did HE lie?

Hey- if its going to be conisdered ok for someone to use a large motorized vehicle to "take out" other vehicles, as long as their intentions are good, Im heading out on a crash derby, because you know, all those people who sell flowers in their flower shops are destroying our environment and habitat, and encouraging unsustainable practices.
Seriously though, if terrorism is by definition the calculated use of violence/force/intimidation against civilians in order to attain some ideological goal (done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear), how can anyone say this group is not a terrorist group? Because one might agree with what they are fighting against should not mean this type of terrorizing is ok.
The fact that they sunk their own ship when trying to destroy another is meaningless imo.
As for the Beck situation, Id like to see someone claim the million dollar bounty by proving he deliberately lied about the situation, instead of being misinformed at the time of the comment. I dont think I equate not knowing the truth with lying, but theres definately a slippery slope there.

Hmm, hostile. Must be the new buzz word. But anyway, if they didn't sink a Japanese ship, then Beck lied. What's so hard and hostile about that?

By the way, just for clarity...what official terrorist list is Sea Shepherd on?

If someone can be so "misinformed" on a subject so thoroughly documented, then he has no business being on a news channel, opinion show or not.

Well, just for starters, the Canadian government (especially Labrador and Newfoundland) have listed Sea Shepherd as an eco-terrorist organization.

And Greenpeace says that Watson is a violent radical. I guess we COULD take their word for it, right? I mean, who better to know that?

A little research on Sea Shepherd and Watson is very enlightening.

Oh, so it's Canadian national. US citizens being listed by other countries does not constitute "international law". Nor does an accusation by a private organization equate to "legally recognized". Perhaps the US is supplying safe harbor for terrorists? After all, their members and board travel freely and at large to, from, and all over the US.

And, not one bit of this makes any of what Beck said any more true.

OK, let's play this game in reverse. Here's a quote from the article by Watson that you linked in your original post.

"The fact is that neither Sea Shepherd or I have ever injured a single human being

Now, I don't have any trouble proving that's a lie. It's in a public statement, and, I would guess, probably read by as many people as watch Glenn Beck, so I wonder why Beck isn't offering anyone a million dollars to prove Watson is right.

Actually, I'm not wondering. As I mentioned above, Watson has a long history of public misstatements.

But let me say up front, I wish all whale hunting would end. There doesn't seem to be a good reason for it, that I can see.

Proving someone else's lie doesn't make Beck's true, so reversing it is actually pretty useless. In another article, a spokesman says that the Andy Gil crew were "obviously unaware they were about to be rammed". That is so unbelieveable that it's almost funny. Why would we believe that they would be unaware of the movements of the very ship they were there to monitor and block? If they were unaware, then they are no doubt too inept to be at sea in the first place.

But, such an exercise still doesn't make Beck's statements true. And we still haven't established what international organization or community legally recognizes Sea Shepherd as a terrorist organization.

All they want to do is to stop the whaling. They don't want to hurt anyone they just want to save the whales. Maybe the Japanese should high tail it back to Japan and fish.
Check out this timeline and history, and get back to us on what you think after doing so.
