New pusscat!!

Hi, im in a bit of a pickle with my new cat. I have a male already, he is 16 months and really placid. He has been introduced to a number of different animals. When i got him when he was 6 weeks old, i also got his brother too but unfortnatly he ran in front of a car and died. It was very upsetting and Paddy seemed to mourn him terribly. He would sit at the end of the garden calling for him and looking for him, it was heart breaking to watch.
We decided to get him another friend so he wasnt lonely. We got 2 kittens, brothers again and Paddy took to them straight away. He would wash them and protect them and lead them to the litter tray and their food, he was like their mum. But the kittens started suckling him. He would let them do it and at first I thought it was quite cute, but after a while I could see that Paddy was getting annoyed with it and he was constantly sopping wet through. We didnt seem to be able to stop them doing it, and after a few months and the kittens were nearly 5 months old they were still at it. We decided to give them up to a lovely family who live near by.
So I was left with my original kitty who was still quite depressed and I wanted to get him another friend. I picked Junior up from a family round the corner. He is a very loving friendly cat. He is two and got pretty much the same temprement as paddy. And with them being around the same age I thought they would be a perfect match. Turns out I was wrong!!!
Paddy is absolutly fine he is purring and giving Junior space. Junior on the other hand is not loving it at all. He keeps growling at Paddy and pouncing on him. Paddy is being very submissive and when Junior Starts Growling, Paddy will roll on his back and avoid eye contact and try and walk away. As soon as he turns his back, Junior pounds on him. I dont know what to do. They are both very loving cats with me and my husband, and the kids run them ragged and the cats just take it in there stride. But Junior just will not tolerate Paddy being near him. Can someone please give me some advice as to how to approach this. Junior hasnt been here long and I know it takes time. I just need some tips as to the best way to do it
Thanx for listening.

Is Junior actually attaking Paddy? I mean, teeth, claws, snarling, fur flying etc? Or is it more of a stalking and rough play type of thing? Has Paddy been injured at all?

If he is attacking and actually drawing blood and it is a full blown fight, that is one thing. I can't give you much help there. That would be pretty diffucult to deal with.

Many people on the site use Feliway. You plug it in and it emits a soothing scent to calm problems with cats. Its good you are aware that this could take some time. I have the same problem here with a cat that has been here for a while, and two youngsters who find it fun to chase him around.

I am sure someone will come along to help. I guess my advice, as lame as it is, is to give it more time. That is what I am doing here.
