We have lots of good news tonight. In my post last night, I talked about how sad it was that we were still not able pet Horatio upstairs. He would cry for pets, run into his basement camp and wait there for love & attention. Well, last night that changed. He came up (right we were getting ready to turn in) and let my husband and I pet him for over an hour in the dining room. The only disadvantage to this great progress that it ended up being to 2 a.m. and we were dead tired and wanted to go to bed. Not Horatio! He watched us get ready for bed and then it was party time for him when the lights turned off. We were also wrong in assuming that the kitty door to the basement was too small for our British Blue twins. Bianca made it through, so I had to go get her and close up the bedroom with the girls inside for the night. Everyone fared well. Horatio does not yet have the disdain for all closed doors that indoor kitties have.
He was happy to have access to all of the house and I think the girls did better feeling safe with us. Today, he slept most of the day away in the basement. My husband and I were hoping to start party time with Horatio a little bit earlier. So, we kept opening the basement door and talking to him, petting him and encouraging to come upstairs. He finally came up a little past 10 p.m. and has been up here for the last two hours. The greatest progress of tonight has to be Horatio and Katie sitting only about 3 feet from each other for the better part of an hour. After watching me pet him, and Horatio purring vigorously, Katie finally gathered the courage to come up and smell him. The introduction wasn't long, but I think it meant a lot to Katie.
I didn't have a chance to get pictures of the two, but I do have a picture of him in the living room. I think he loves it! Hard to imagine that up until two weeks ago, this kitty had been living outside on his own for at least a year, possibly longer. He loves lounging, pillows, pets. He is very interested in the TV machine
I think we are going to let them fend for themselves tomorrow when we are gone to work!
