does anyone else have cats that come when they're called?

Mojo, our little puppy-cat, is the only one who actually comes when she's called. The rest know their names but will only come if they think it's in their best interest to do so.
Mojo will come running any time!

All of my cats do. The generic call for them is "Whiskas" which they identify for treats (although they do not eat Whiskas). They also respond to their names. Coming when called is a necessity for me since they all go outside. :-)

Both of my Ocicats come when called or they at least answer when you call their names.

Many of my Rexes did the same. The only time the cats ignore us is when they are doing something they shouldn't be doing!

We have five cats and every single one of them knows his or name and they will all come when we call them. (most of the time)

Banshee was the only one who would always come when called. Always. She even came to me when it was time for me to give her her pills. Bless her, she hated those pills, but she always came.

haha each one of my cats does a different thing when they hear their name. Pirate, for instance, will make a weird yodel-clicking noise and come running from around the corner. Mama Mia will come trotting up (soooo cute), Sidney will meow several times and come bounding down the hall, and I'd say the funniest of them all would be Taylor. When I call Taylor's name, she throws her head back and lets out one of the loudest, most annoying meows I've ever heard in my lifetime. She's a total nut. So yea, I guess they all come to their names. They also answer to the words "num-nums" or "din-din"

same here 95% of the time Penny comes when I say "Hi Pumpkin"
and Daisy comes for "Daze" or her real name Daisy. Penny however only asnwers to "Hi Pumpkin" , never her real name

Calvin and Hobbes don't come when they are called (yet!), but Hobbes always appears whenever I turn any source of water on.

Holland also comes running when she hears anything that sounds like it could possibly be food...
especially when it sounds like the crinkling of her Greenies treat bag!!

ETA: DaveT, I love the names Calvin and Hobbes! My sister had a little orange and white Hobbes many years ago...

I only wish my cats would always come when I called them. Both know their names and will look at me or meow if I say their names, but only come when it's in their best interest. Coda will come if I have her favourite toy in my hand (a little red ball) and it looks like I'll be throwing it for her to fetch or bat. Nico will come if I go in the kitchen and call his name. If I'm in another part of the house and call him, I'll get a meow but no cat.

Oh yeah! Comes running! My cat comes to so many different names. Her recall is pretty darn good.
You can "train" for it in a way too, offer a tasty treat when they come to, you can at least maybe shape the behavior. I think this is important because I am scared if she ever got out I would want her to come back to me right away. We live with forest all around us, big hawks and wildlife, it isn't safe for her out there.

I forgot to add this earlier. All my cats have songs. Mazy cat LOVES her song so much she cannot resist it, when I sing it to her, she HAS to come over to me for Raptures. Even if she is POUTING about something, she will come when I sing her song.

Tolly and Jennie love their songs too, but not the way Mazy cat does.

She comes running full steam ahead if I call her then open a can. Other times she just looks at me with those "love-eyes" as if to say "Call and make an appointment mama, I'm busy."

More often than not, mine do come when called by their name. I call them by their name when I'm going to feed them or when it's time to come in to the house from the backyard for the night.
Many times they will just ignore me though!

Miles comes when I call him most of the time, and he will even respond if I whistle.

Zoe pretty much ignored me when I called.

I'm convinced that when a cat doesn't come when we call them it's because they chose not to, they must be doing something far more interesting to them than what they may think we have to offer them in that precise instant.

I really don't think they don't obey because they don't know their name or understand what we are saying, they are too smart for that.
