Hello all, I'm posting looking for advice, suggestions and ideas about two kittens.

I had the two kittens and their sweet Moma on my porch. They needed somewhere to be warm, they found my porch, so I am trying to do the right thing and trying to make sure everyone is safe.

Currently, they are all inside, Moma walked in on her own, but the kittens need some socializing.

I'm working with a rescue, but we had to catch them and they are staying in a room together (mama wants nothing to do with them, hissed at them). I'm working to socialize them more, and they're coming around...slowly.

I can touch them occasionally, they don't hiss or scratch. They are hesitant, but very curious. They are clean, use litter box. They get so wound up, and excited with they eat. They are starting to ask for food, vocalizing like my cats do when it's time to eat. They look at me and are curious, smell my fingers, lick or nip the food off. One will eat out of the bowl in my lap while I gently touch her coat.

Any suggestions about socializing the kittens?

Apparently they are on good way! And apparently, you are doing allright!

Them being curious is a good sign, and a good help.

Good luck!

You have other cats in the home? If so, as soon as the kittens have been checked and fully treated for roundworms (most kittens will have them) start introducing them to the others. They will teach your kittens how to behave towards you.

But otherwise, the fact that they love food is the best thing you have going.
Just make sure that you do your best to pet them everyday and work up on contact - never go backwards in it.

Actually, I wouldn't rush to integrate them into the tribe. Just a few days of interaction with you can make a huge difference.

This kitten went from a terrified, flea-ridden wild thing to this in less than a week, and just two days in our bathroom.

With flea ridden or with need to have a quarantene, a bathroom is the premium choice.

But if there is no such issues, the bedroom is even better...

Yes, it certainly sounds like you are well on your way, congrats!

Time, patience and all of the love and attention that you can provide. The more they are around you and the more attention you CAN give them, will help them become more and more socialized. I wish you luck!

Two of mine completely lost the last bit of reserve they had right after being introduced to my group - the third kitten didn't have it to begin with...

They all automatically took to Tomas and very much copy everything he does. The two that were shy and running/occasionally hissing, got ever it pretty quickly. Now the male kitten behaves just like Tomas (scary thought, I don't want another Tomas
) in most situations. He's even picked up Tomas's habit of vocalizing all the time...

If they're already halfway there, pushing 10-12wks+, and really seem to want more social interaction with other cats, start introducing them. If they latch onto a very friendly adult in the home it will help. Besides its a common tactic to use a friendly cat to help tame a feral one as cats take a lot of cues from each other.

Yeah. And his look-alike, Emily, was adopted in the first week she was back at the shelter.

For some reason, Flambe is still available.
