What are you reading? The Sequel. - Page 3

I just started rereading The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie. It's the first book in his excellent The First Law series. I'm going on a cruise in a couple of weeks and plan to download some mindless drivel to my Kindle. I don't want to have to think while on vacation.

I recently read Best Served Cold and it was one of the best fantasy novels I've ever read. Way too heavy to read more than one at a time though, imo. A couple of scenes had me squirming and I'm not squemish, at least not while reading.

I'm still waiting for Barnes and Noble to release ebook editions of The First Law, alas.

I'm reading 2 ( I love my Kindle!) John Adams by David McCullough and when that starts to get a little dry I switch over to Mortal Stakes by Robert B. Parker. It's a Spenser book.

Best Served Cold is on my "to read" list. The First Law is pretty bloody but I hear that Best Served Cold is worse.

Have you read The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss? That is the best fantasy novel I have read in years, probably since the first three Fire and Ice novels by George RR Martin.

Columbine: A True Crime Story...it's pretty thought provoking.

Clan of the Cave Bear...again

I am re-reading New Moon from the Twilight Saga. I would also like to re-read The Hobbit in the near future.

I am reading an Ian Rankin book, Naming of the Dead - it is the first Rebus book I have read, and quite enjoying it, more than watching the programme.

I am reading "The Oxford History of the Classical World", specifically the section on Rome as part of my research for my paper.

The newest book in my collection that arrived today is one about Marcus Aurelius.

I am currently reading Under Control by Mark McNay. It's a little strange but an easy read.

@jenwales - I have a copy of The Name of the Wind, just haven't read it yet. My TBR pile is insane. XD And I keep adding to it...

@kluchetta - By Dave Cullen? I read it about a month ago. I can't say I enjoyed the book given the subject matter, but it was a fascinating look at how badly the media can distort reality.

I'm between books right now, having a hard time picking what to read next. It's not so much that I don't have any choices, it's that I have too many. XD And I don't really feel like anything in particular. I just finished Clockwork Heart, fantastic steampunk romance fantasy.

No, it was by Jeff Kass, who was a reporter for the Rocky Mountain News so based right here in Metro Denver. I like the way he has captured what it was like to live through that time living right here.

I know what you mean about too many choices, it is an issue I have a lot, I put them in alphabetical order in the end cos I couldnt think of any other way. I am reading a Robin Cook book called Marker, which is quite good (I like him anyway)

Ha, that is a great idea! I may just try that myself...

Currently reading The Stand by Stephen King. It's taking longer than it normally would, but between work and school I haven't read half as much as I did when life was a little slower!

I'm reading the fourth book in the Outlander series: Drums of Autumn. I like this one a lot!

Ok, I know it's for young adults, but I started reading The Vampire Diaries. One of my GFs has been reading it and she enjoys it. Another GF said she was going to start reading it, too. So I thought....what the heck.

Anyway, I've read the first four books and I do enjoy the series.

I am now reading Push by Sapphire which the movie Precious was based on. Super intense so far.

Finished the new Stephanie Plum - Sizzling Sixteen - last night. A good read. I'm a big Plum fan and anxiously the new books in June. I collect several authors; Janet Evanovich's Plum series is one of them.

Am starting on Death Watch by Lincoln Child today.

I finished Blessings by Anna Quindlen yesterday and really enjoyed it. I've read a few of her other books as well, great author.

I just started The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger and although I didn't think it would be a book that would interest me, a girl here at work who has similar taste in books to me said I HAVE to read it.

I am reading a PD JAmes book, The Murder Room

I LOVED the first 2 books of this series, but didn't enjoy the 3rd, so gave up on it. This one is good, huh?

Sadly, even though I am intensely reading something at the moment, I cannot tell you the name OR author!! (it's a brain
thing )

I loved that book!

I'm inhaling The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, by Stieg Larsson - almost finished. And I plan on moving on to the the next one, The Girl Who Played With Fire. Alot of hype about these books, so I was sort of thinking it probably wouldn't live up to the hype - but it did.

Currently reading Mind The Gap by Christopher Golden and Tim Lebbon. I thought it was too weird for me at first, but the more I have gotten into it, it's not too bad.

I liked that one - all her books, actually.

All three were good, but I liked the third, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, the least, though it did tie up the loose ends.

I've just finished a couple of non-fiction books and one fiction:

For the Thrill of It: Leopold, Loeb, and the Murder That Shocked Jazz Age Chicago which was heavy on the courtroom drama (no surprise, since Clarence Darrow was the defense attorney), but quite good
A Big Little Life: A Memoir of a Joyful Dog, by Dean Koontz, about his dog Trixie - very enjoyable
Crime of Magnitude: The Murder of Little Annie
that was an interesting reconstruction of an "unsolved" crime

and

The Face of Fear which is an old one by Dean Koontz.

I enjoyed the Murder Room too, have only read a couple of her books, but would definitely read more.

I have read one Lee Child Book, The Persuader, and started on the second, Echo Burning.

I have the first two Stieg Larrson books, but they are quite low down on the list.

Jcat - those books all sound like my cup of tea - I think i have read the Face of Fear.

I am currently reading Prozac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel, but am not into it far enough to form an opinion just yet.

I just finished reading "Scarlet Feather."

The book was given to me by a co-worker for when I went off medical leave. Based on the little bits I read on the back cover, the title and the picture on the cover, I nearly didn't bother with it. It just didn't seem like the kind of novel that I would be interested in.

Well, let me tell you that I'm glad that I took a chance. The author is an excellent writer and knows how to weave a plot and develop characters. It was a very enjoyable read.

1. Howard's End - EM Forster (for my book club next week!)
2. The Big Bad Wolf - James Patterson (Alex Cross series - my guilty pleasure!)
3. Push - Sapphire

Yes, I'm addicted to reading. I'm almost always reading 2-3 books at once.

Finished this and WHAT a waste of time. SO boring.

Currently reading Still Missing by Chevy Stevens and I am really enjoying it so far.

I just finished The Girl Who Played With Fire, and borrowed the next one, The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest from a friend, as I knew I would finish the 2nd one and wanted to move on right away to the 3rd one. And I'm glad I did that, because the book, itself, continues with the story, right where the 2nd one left off.

I wasn't expecting this. I thought it was going to be 3 different adventures with the same characters, but it really is a true trilogy. I'm totally obsessed with the characters now.
