So I recently started feeding Storm canned cat food. Which she LOVES
She is starting to level out (growing wise) & she looks more and more like a cat every day (vs. the kitten look, lol I know she's a cat) and she's started gaining weight. She's by no means fat at all but I want to keep her trim. (I've learned so much from this board, and realized how MANY mistakes I made with my last two cats) She'll be a year in Aprilish (DOB unknown). She's about 6-7lbs right now at 9-10 months. So by my calculations (since she is very active & growing) I would say she needs about 210 cal/day (7lb x 30 cal/day).

Before the switch she was getting 1 1/3c TOTW per day (2/3c AM, 2/3c PM). Which works out to 520 calories per day. Hence the weight gain. Per the bags guidelines she should only be getting 2/3c or 260 calories. Now I'm feeding her 2\\3c TOTW AM and 1/2 a 5.5oz can of GF Wellness + probably an ounce of water to fill her up more in the PM. Which equals 300.5-319 calories per day depending on the flavor fed, which is still over the 'recommended' amount. She seems fine in the AM but by 2-3 hours after her PM feeding she's begging and running to her bowl every time we go into the kitchen. If we don't go near the kitchen she's fine. Maybe she just is optimistic that if she begs she'll get some more yummy wet food?

Personally I feel that if cats are just being fed wet food they almost need the double the amount they used to get on dry food. Since most wet foods out there are mainly water anyway - not very filling for a kitty. My cats always go for the wet food first and then fill up on bikkies!

Thanks for the input, she still is receiving dry food in the AM around 6:30 and usually seems quite satisfied all day. She's fed again in the PM between 5:30-6:30 depending on what's going on. The whole point of switching her to wet is because she's starting to gain unwanted weight. Maybe I can give her a 1/4c AM and then like a Tbsp of dry with her PM feeding to help her feel full longer?
