Cat water fountain

Finally broke down and got our cats a flowing type water bowl. Thay both will walk up to it, sniff and look it over real good but neither has drank from it. It's only been one day.
How long did it take your cats to embrace the cat fountain?

I washed it first. After it ran awhile I could see a film of charcoal on the bottom so I cleaned it again.

A day or two. Now they really like it. But they also still use their regular water bowls.. and a couple of them will still occasionally ask for the faucet to get a drink... usually when I am washing my hands or something. Frankly - I don't care what source they use, as long as they drink!

My cats are quick to adapt, they drank right away.

Hope your cats adjust soon

I have three different water fountains and the cats reacted differently to each one. They took to the domed cat-it right away. I got the smaller cat-it model in 2008 and Flynn is still the only one who uses it (only every now and then). I got the cat mate fountain last year and at first I thought it was another dud because they did not use it for weeks, then Flynn started to use it and now it's every cat's favorite

OK, I have three different kinds. The Cat It, no one likes. They like the Drinkwell because of the constant stream of water. I think the Cat It is too quiet. They are drawn to the sound of the running water in the Drinkwell.

Then I have the one from Petco. My Beeba uses that one religiously! It just took a day or two for everyone to get in the "groove".

I've got the Drinkwell, and if I recall correctly, Holland took to it after just a day or two. She still has two other bowls of water, but she definitely prefers to drink from the fountain.
