I just wanted to share these two. They're my childhood kitties and are going to be 18 this year. Alex is the grey tabby and Tiffany is the Tortie. They're brother and sister from the same litter and joined the family when I was in junior high as mousers for our barn. Since then they moved into my parents' house and now can be found on this mat in the kitchen in the winter (there's a heat grate right behind them) or dozing in the mulch in my mom's garden in the summer.

Original

Alex is a typical 'grumpy old man' cat and he's got the look of disdain down perfectly. He's also a big cuddle bug who makes a point of sleeping on visiting cat people and likes to steal ice cream.

Tiffany has always been our hunting goddess. I don't think a single rodent lived on our property during her younger years. She'd be sitting on the woodpile when we left for school and we'd come home to her waiting to be let in and a stack of 2 dozen or so dead mice.
she's always been...umm...very good at what she does.

That is so wonderful that they have had such good lives and are still around to enjoy their twilight years filled with cuddles and treats.

Awwww! Looks like they love each other heaps!
Alex seems to have a really cute sleeping face. I never liked tabbies, until I rescued two (well technically one is a torbie/calico and the other is a blue tabby). Now I love them!

I have always had a fondness for senior cats- IMO they have the most personality. I have one senior kitty and I call her the "comic relief" in my house

Aww so cute! That's awesome that you've had them for so long. I lost my childhood kitty a few years ago to Renial Failure. She was 17

I don't think I've ever seen cats quite so bonded as these two. They've slept together and groomed each other since they were kittens. Even my parents' vet thinks they're remarkably healthy for their age. Alex doesn't quite have the energy he used to and is missing a few teeth and Tiffy is partially blind and has a bit of arthritis, but they do well for senior kitties.

I'm house sitting for them this weekend, so I'll get to hang with these guys a bit.

Eh, sounds like aging cats are like aging people in that sense
. Just makes them even more lovable
