How do you clean them when they start getting yucky. There is a kind of white coating on one side of my curling iron. The last one that got like this, I used brillo to clean it and I ruined the iron so trashed it. What do you use to clean the iron, any suggestions or should I just buy a new one, they are cheap enough.

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
I just take a no scratch sponge *DRY* and when it gets to the point where its cooling down and you can touch it with your fingers I just hold it open it and scrub the stuff off. Mine gets gooky from hairspray and stuff so I clean it about once a month or less! And Ive had my curling iron since I was about 16..sooooooooo yea 9 yrs Ive had it and it still works like new!

I just take a moist washcloth and wipe it off while it is still warm (but not hot!!).

I try to do this every time I use a curling or flat iron. The hairspray especially makes a curling iron sticky and tacky.
