I hardly ever watch the Food Network anymore, but I'm such an Alton fan....I adore that guy.

One of the Christmas presents I received from DS and DDIL was Alton's new book, The Early Years, which details the first six seasons of episodes from Good Eats. The front cover said "Fold-out Poster Included!" and so I was wondering where this poster was.

It's the cover of the book. And geez, it's such a neat poster! If you're an AB fan, you'll recognize some of the characters on Good Eats: Cocoa Carl, Elton, Marsha (sister), Paul, Chuck. They're all listed on the poster. Honestly, it's just a great poster.

So....off to the store for a frame. Yep, I'm framing the thing and going to hang it on an office wall at work. (Told you I'm a fan!)

speaking only for myself, he's okay in small doses. when he first hit the scene i thought his show was so entertaining and enlightening but that wore off for me in a few months. i haven't read his bio or anything but i think a certain percentage of what he says about food science is nothing more than well-crafted facade/script courtesy of the food network. i mean, yeah, i'll wager alton brown knows much more than the average person, but that whole "walking encyclopedia" thing can be a bit much (in my humble opinion)

nevertheless, tv is tv and execs know a unique show will create a buzz and a following etc. and regardless of anyone's opinion on alton brown he is certainly one of a kind and a great fit for tv

I like Alton. My son has taped all his shows and likes to use some of his recipies for his wife and kids from time to time.

I will say, I tried his chewy chocolate chip cookie recipie..it turned out terrible. They were crispy!!

But I do still like him, just not his cookies!

I like Alton, I've never tried any of his recipes but the show is very entertaining to me.

I didn't try the chewy choc chip cookies because there's another recipe I always use (the King Arthur recipe for chewy chocolate chip cookies is truly TDF). But yeah, I did hear that they weren't all that great.

I tried a butternut squash dumpling recipe one time made with sage, I think it was; it was one of his recipes. They weren't Good Eats. In the book, he says that a lot of people wrote about that recipe and were not happy.

I like his quirkiness. And I've learned a lot from his tips on the show.

Vampcow, I've not seen Mythbusters, but I think DH may have. What is it? Is it on A & E?

I love Alton and I love that show. I bought that book with a gift card for Christmas! I love Alton's recipes for similar reasons for loving America's Test Kitchen- the science behind what he does is dead on and if you make his recipes exactly as stated they will turn out perfectly. I also think he's hilarious.

I really like him as well, but Guy Fehetti (sp?) is my very favorite. He's such a fun guy and I really like his personality!

I do not like Altons show Good Eats at all and I think he is strange.
I have a autographed mug from Guy and have ate at his place a few times.
He has been to our Raleys also.

Not to be a party pooper but I think he's sooo weird in a kind of neutral way...
I mean I like watching him sometimes, but most of the time I'm just like "okkkayy that was REALLY odd"..Sometimes he's so odd that it's funny, but that's not always the case most of the time he's just simply odd. Maybe I'm not getting something about his show good eats

I think for people who like science and like food, then they'll probably like Good Eats.
I don't know. I find America's Test Kitchen is like "Alton Brown Lite" (not as much science and far less humor but lots of helpful information)

Lol, I don't mind the science too much, I think I just dont' get his humor. Half the time I'm wondering if what he said was supposed to be a joke, or if it was just a really awkward weird moment!!! Then I say to myself there's no way that wasn't put there on purpose it had to have been a joke lol..
I really like Man vs. Food and Bizarre Foods ..I wish they would have a vegan chef or raw food "cooking" show, that would be fun to watch..

We watch Man v Food now. My DH really likes it and I enjoy seeing all the places that Adam visits for his shows. Would love to go to some of them, just for the food.
