Gizmo has always let me trim his nails when he jumps in my lap while I'm sitting at the computer, ever since he was a kitten. I keep the trimmers on my desk and just do them one at a time while he looks up at me adoringly.
Last time he decided to jump out of my lap just as I was closing the clippers on the last one, and I think I either cut too close to the quick or pinched his toe by accident. He made a loud squalling noise and wouldn't let me pick him up. I was able to examine his claw later and it looked cracked.
Now he gets nervous whenever I handle his feet and tries to jump away, even when I handle the other foot. His claws have to be trimmed, because he likes to jump in my clothes and try to dig his way to China. Any suggestions on how to get him over the bad experience so I can clip his claws again?
