Some basic background to start off. I feed chicken soup now i have both adult and kitten formula here. The kitten turns one shortly(like next mth) so i will run the bag till it's end and call it quits since that is the end of my kittens.

However, and this is where my dilemma comes into play, my almost 5yo(in Apr) abby tends to eat the kitten and not the adult formula.

While usually i would be concerned an adult cat would possibly chub up on kitten food, she hasn't at all, she is very lean, she has a bit of a time keeping weight on, her health is fine BUT we had an incident several years ago where she almost died(complications from her spaying, wicked infection) and since then her weight seems to be harder to maintain, she's pretty active too(she's the oldest of the 3 cats here)

I am trying to sort out what to do, i really do not want to continue purchasing the kitten formula, Phoenix which is the kitten is a BIG boy, not overweight just a classic male ragdoll and after he turns one isn't in need of a growth formula.

What kibble should i look into for abby though? is there a food that would be better for a cat to who clearly needs more protein/fat than an average indoor cat? she does eat wet food too, they all do.. however grain free will not work, i have tried a few over the years and nobody will eat them.

Thanks and i apologize for the mini novel LOL

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
If I remember correctly (I dont have the bag anymore) Taste of the Wild is a food for all stages of life. I couldnt use kitten food because trying to feed to adult cats who were porking up kitten food was just asking for more weight issues. I switched to TOTW and GiGi my kitten (1 yr in Feb) has done really good on it and it has kept my boys at steady weights. I love TOTW and it IMO is an awesome food! So it might be something youd would want to look into.

well i'll be, clearly i should have gone and read my bag
This is what it says on their site, same as on my bag obviously..

"Chicken Soup for the Kitten Lover's Soul Kitten Formula is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) Cat Food Nutrient Profiles for all life stages."

At least that is settled abby will be happy, i'd just buy kitten but my oldest male doesn't like it, he only eats the adult version, i guess he feels he's to mature for that 'baby' stuff

Thank sharky!

Thanks for the suggestion, actually i have tried it before it went over well, like trying to feed them broccoli
none would touch it, i have had no luck with grain free foods here.

My cats all eat TOTW, from a 13.5 pounder to a teeny 20 year old! How big is your Raggy? Smudge is only about 13 pounds, but very LARGE. Lots bigger than the 13.5 pound cat!

Okay went an weighed him, he thought i was nuts
15lbs @ 11mth old! he is HUGE has these gigantic feet, that is actually him in my siggy much younger though obviously.

All of my cats are ragdolls actually, copper my almost 4yo male is big too but i have no idea his weight, i just know 'the kitten' is basically the same size but a touch taller, abby my female is about 10lbs and yet she is quite lean even at that.

I know! he is just so, so big.. it's scary.. the breeder said he will be big but wow, he's lovely though.. just the floppiest, most tolerant, total classic ragdoll behaviour.
