I think that those with the different colors and styles of their usernames means that they are paying members. Thats how they are able to change them to the different stuff. I dont know if that answers your question...It might just be a stupid answer!! lol

Find in the row of SHOP the ways where you can "buy" the changes to username with colours & effects...

just hit Shop Menu ( the place where you buy the gifts to give to all persons that you want) And find in that menu, MOST SOLD is the last item....then you can hit to any that you want and voila....

I think your browser may be the reason you see differences in usernames. Some browsers will not show the effects.

Part of it depends on what fonts and effects your computer has available. I used a font in my username that is in Photoshop but was not in the TCS list. It shows up on my computer, but I believe it doesn't show on computers that do not have that font in some program.

Also, most of the fonts that are available to use in messages don't show up on my computer. I think it's the computer rather than the browser because it's the same for all my browsers.

That's it.

I use IE at work and Firefox at home. At work all the colors and highlights show.

At home everything is just plain. And some colors don't show very well on Firefox but I like it much better than IE.

I have a colored/shadowed user-name, but don't see it when I use FireFox. It does show up, however, when I use IE. Which means I wasted some points when I bought the different fonts & all, because I never use IE anymore. Oh, well....
