One of my favorite passengers in my cab is an elderly gentleman that goes every day to sit with his wife in a nursing home. He feeds her, takes her outside on nice days, and generally dotes on her. They have been married for over 60 years. I take him there most mornings, and pick him up most afternoons. We stop by the grocery store so he can get fruit for his wife and cat food. At one time he had 13 cats, but they all passed away of old age or disappeared. He was very sad to be catless, but then a beautiful calico came up to visit and he took her in. A few weeks ago a beautiful gray tabby showed up. He showed her to me, and was just delighted that she is having kittens. His son will help get everybody spayed and neutered, and he will have cats again. He loves their company, and says it helps a little since his wife is no longer living there. It just makes my day to see this dear little man.

This is such a sweet story, I absolutely love being around elderly people, they are so patient, in most cases life has taught them to be very tolerant of others and very compassionate. It is amazing how sweet and caring this person is towards his wife, she is one lucky lady

He is the most dedicated man I have ever seen. When he was in the hospital for awhile, he was not able to go see her for over a month. The first day he could go back, he was so excited, it was like a teenager on his first date. He had flowers, candy, and was as dressed up as he was able. I helped him in to the facility in a wheelchair and took him to her room. She cried, she was so happy to see him. The nurses had done her hair all up, put a pretty gown and a little lipstick on her so she would look her best for him. It was so sweet. DH drives him sometimes now, and they have become great buddies. They have coffee together if it is too early for his visit. They are a sight, the big tattooed biker and the tiny elderly gentleman discussing their cats.
