Mouse moved out.

My daughter took Mouse home on Monday night. I rode along, as planned, and helped get Mouse settled. I was pretty encouraged, as she went all over Rose's room sniffing and didn't go hide or anything. Rose let two of the other cats in to check Mouse out. Mouse hissed at the kitten. Rose's other cat ran away as soon as she saw Mouse. There was no cat fight or anything though. I miss her a lot, but I was thinking this might truly be the best gift we could have given her.

Last night (Tuesday), Rose called me and said Mouse is absolutely miserable and howling. She was considering bringing her home shortly, if Mouse doesn't settle down to the new environment. I encouraged her to keep her till Friday and see how she is by then. Seems like since we started this we ought to at least give it more of a chance. I am hoping this will work out for Mouse. But if it doesn't, she can just come back.

When I adopted Fatman from a friend who couldnt keep him any longer he was fine at first snooping about the apt and getting to know Hercules. Herc at the time wasnt even a yr old yet and grew up around a bunch of cats on a farm. We thought everything was going to be fine until night came and we didnt get any sleep at all. Fatman was up all night long howling crying everything. He wanted under the covers then out of the covers. He wanted in the window then he wanted in bed all this with his pathetic girly cry going non stop. It took 2 wks for him to be ok and back to normal but it also took a lot of patience on our parts to coax him out from under the covers or bed and get him acclimated to us and our house. To this day over a yr later Fatman is still our baby but is the big bad bossman in the house. For your daughter and Mouse this is going to take time and very likely a few weeks for things to settle down for him.
