turkish van - long cat hair everywhere!!!!!

Thread Starter
we have a turkish van and she is shedding cat hair like crazy.
i brush her at least 3-4 times a week with a regular cat brush, the soft kind, but it does not seem to help.
any suggestions of a different type of brush or something else?
when we had our other cat, i would just use the vaccum cleaner on her and she did not mind at all but delilah, our turkish van is scared to death of the vaccum, so that is out.
i know the vaccum may seem a little crazy but it worked and the cat seemed to enjoy it.

You can cut the foot off of a pair of pantyhose.

Put it over your hand and pet her like normal. It will pull off a lot of hair. You can do this a couple of times a day and then throw the hair in the trash.

The Furminator. http://www.amazon.com/FURminator-deS...3392568&sr=8-2

It is the best thing I have ever used. It is worth it. I usually get enough out of a quick brush to make another cat. Mine have a limit of about 5-10 mins before they decide they are done and as i said i end up with enough fur to crate another cat.

Regular brushes don't do anything. Paul used one for Maude and that was a joke, she still shed everywhere. The Furminator solved that, she gets brushed everyday or every other day and while she still sheds we don't have cat hair tumbleweeds from her alone.

I'm sure I'm not the only one in love with my Furminator. Amazon has the best price by the way, they have it cheap at $20. It is expensive but worth it. I use a medium one designed for dogs, it just makes me able to get them done a lot faster than if I was using the smaller cat one, they are all the same only difference is the length of it. It also makes me not have to remove the hair from it quite as often because you get a lot of hair with each stroke.

I honestly never knew how much fur Maude or Attitude or even Nuts had, you think they'd be bald with the amount of hair I get from brushing them.

I also like the Furminator shampoo, I use it for Nuts and Attitude. If I ever even thought about bathing Maude I wouldn't have any limbs left. Nuts and the 'Tude hate it but it also helps reduce the shedding.

Seriously I couldn't live without my Furminator.

I have 2 cats, and that hair on the clothes was real problem. I searched for the solutions of it, and collected different methods of removing pet hair.

But first of all you, certanly, must take care of your pet, to prevent shed. So, keep your pet well groomed, because it's by far the most important step you can take in controlling the hair in your home. Regular bathing, brushing and combing will remove old hair, mats and dander. People often think that shorthaired pets don't shed. They do! They just shed shorter hair. Brushing is just as important for these cats.
A brush, comb, mat remover or grooming glove used for a few minutes every day will help collect dead hair that you can throw away instead of finding it all over the house. Removing loose hair also reduces the incidence of hairballs. Some tricks to remove pet hair are well described here: http://removepethair.blogspot.com/
