Just wondering how much do you guys spend on a cat each year. like including all the vet bills, grooming, food, etc.
For one of our Aussie`s it`s 1,200-2,000 a year
depending on how old they are. and that includes

Vet Checks
Vaccs.
OFA
Serf
Preventatives ( heartworms and Fleas)
Food
Grooming Supplies
Classes
Travel
Registration fess
etc.

could someone break down their costs?
is is about the same for a cat?????

Ohhh geez, I don't want to think about it. IMO it varies too much to really figure it out. I usually pay about $75 per entry and go to 5-7 shows a year. Then add in hotel bills, food, etc for the show (we usually pull out $300 for a show weekend.

I only give shots every other year now, no need for worming or testing since I show alters. We only have 2 cats now (one is shown, one stays home).

And figure about $20 on canned food every two weeks and a bag of dry food every other month.

I have a old cat with CRF and other problems.
Her treatment is expensive.
I paid $125 for last weekends 3 day TICA show and paid $60 for this saturdays 1 day CFA show.
It depends on the show.
Some CFA shows are almost $100 just for 1 cat and they are 1 day shows.
The cheapest was $45.
I will be staying in a hotel at some of the upcoming shows.
They are about $100 per night and then all the gas to get to the shows.
Showing is not cheap and does add up.
I have 3 shows this month alone.
I have been doing 1 or 2 shows a month.
The vet is expensive and it adds up fast.
Wrinkles gets altered on monday and it will be almost $400 just for that.

As you can see, even with not really couting it all up, there is a lot of "hidden" expenses that go into breeding/showing cats and the cost of a kitten doesn't come close to covering the costs. If you own your own males for breeding, the costs is a little less as you don't have stud fees.

I don't even want to imagine how much it costs but I can do it roughly and spur of the moment.

If I was to keep one of newborns here, they have already incurred expenses in my book

Costs of the queen
Transport costs for the queen to go to stud
Feeding & extra feeding for a queen
The cost of transporting my cats around while they are pregnant (I work nights)
Formula or milk costs if they need topping
when they start eating, it's milk, biscuits, meat costs
2 x vaccinations
worming costs, flea treatment costs
(the cost of petrol to even go pick all the above up)
neutering costs, advertising costs, the cost of taking work off to show people kittens
the cost of grooming supplies
entering show costs, travelling to show costs, show supplies costs (curtains etc)
and the list goes on..

I probably spend that much just on food alone.

Haha definitely.

Entire/show cat has different expenses to show neuter. Show fees are less though, since they can't be shown as often
