Happy New Year everyone! It has been awhile since I posted, but I read everyone's threads each day to gain knowledge. In a nut shell, I have been in the process of elimination over the past 15 weeks or so to solve CJ's food allergies. We have had to go to the vet twice for Cortizone to stop the scratching/licking, and each time we do modifications to his diet. We have eliminated corn, tuna, and now at the point of all seafood (which is all three cat's favorite, and is the culpruate (sp) in my vets opinion). So, that said, I free dry feed daily, and wet at night. The transition to seafood-free wet has been fine, but none of them care for the dry. I was using ProPlan salmon flavored dry (which is what the vet recommended because it is corn free) and have switched to the ProPlan Chicken flavor (they only make these two in dry). I got this last night, and mixed 1/2 salmon with 1/2 chicken for them to munch on overnight. The bowls are ALWAYS empty in the mornings, but not this morning. So I gave them fresh, with the same combination (1/2&1/2), and they ate a few bits (I am sure they picked out the salmon). My question is does anyone have any advice on getting them to change, I felt so guilty because they all love their breakfast. I am hoping for the old saying "if they get hungry they will eat it"(?).
Thanks

the if they get hungry theyll eat is fine with dogs but cats in as little as 24 hours can get hepatic lipidosis a liver issue that can kill them..

If I read your post right they are eating just not cleaning their bowls like normal?

maybe start with less chicken in the bowl...

I will add IMHO : allergy trials are supposed to be done with a protein and grain or starch unknown to the cat... say you feed lots of seafood and chicken foods( that had rice and corn) then you might try a venison and pea

Yes, I know about the liver issues with them not eating. They are eating, it is just they don't like this new chicken flavored dry compared to the salmon flavored dry (they turn their noses up to it). I will add more salmon in with the chicken in hopes they will start liking it. They like the new wet food in the evenings. Grant it, this morning was the first morning of the new chicken flavor, maybe I will have better luck tomorrow morning with them getting used to the taste/smell in their bowls.
