Is anyone else bored at work most of the time without much to do? What do you do to keep yourself busy? I just started this job at the beginning of Dec. and I have a project, but it's not due until September. Every time I try to ask my supervisor about something to progress the project he tells me, "don't worry about it, you only have to have a draft by Sept., there's no hurry". I'm just one of those types of people that likes to always be doing something instead of nothing. That and I sometimes feel bad about getting paid for doing nothing. I've finished all of my training so I can't do that.

Maybe you could ask your supervisor if there is some other project you could help with.

When I am bored at work, I make art projects or clean my welding area.

I used to be bored at work because it was never busy. It's been super busy since they decided to close us and everything is 50% off.

Since my job consists of cleaning the house right now and that only takes an hour..I generally spend my time now on here!! *Its a major addiction of mine* And reading my Nora Roberts books!! If I get super bored Ill go out to the garage and bug the BF to show me what all he is doing!!!

I have problems from time to time; it's the nature of my job. I'll go to some of the forums that I hang out on, but try to be careful . Clean my office, water my plants, etc. Get rid of all the paperwork that always seems to find its way to my desk. No games. (Sometimes at lunch, if I can't walk, I'll play Mah-Jongg. But only during lunch.)

I've been bored at work since I returned from my time off. Before Xmas we were extremely busy - no time to even think! I was here from 6:30am - 7pm one night working. Now we've pretty much slowed down. I've been checking on my online classes since they started yesterday, as well as finding my way to TCS more during the day
Yesterday I went on a forum visiting spree. Its nice being slow after the rush, but at the same time I'm so ready to just leave and relax at home!

I always have a ton to do, but when boredom hits me and I cant make myself do any *work* work, Ill go get a "coffee" (which means Hot Chocolate or Coke Zero) and due to having to walk through Medical Sciences Building and the Hospital, takes a good 15 minutes. I like reading webcomics or lurking on TCS as well

Whenever I've started to get bored at work, I've always taken it as a sign to get a more challenging and better paying job - with the exceptions of the times I was in school and used the extra time to study! But it looks like you just started your job.

If it were me, I'd use the time to study Spanish, work on my novel, or take a class in finance.

OMG the one job I worked at for 20 years got so boring towards the end that I actually cried at times. Our department was no longer going to exist so we were all laid off eventually but during that waiting period it was so boring with hardly any work to do at all. I spent lots of time on the Internet to kill time but even that got boring. I was happy to leave and go on unemployment for a while, then got another job, took sick and had to retire in less than a year. Now I am happily retired but I do know how boring a job can be when there is nothing to keep you busy

Yeah I was bored at my job for a few months before finally getting laid off on 12/31.... No new work was coming in, and I only had my one weekly site inspection which takes about 2.5 hours including travel time and the report afterwards. Other than that I had stuff I could catalog in the library database but it wasn't something that HAD to be done so I had a hard time making myself do a lot of that. Or sometimes I would really clean my desk area really good. Once at my previous job (which was even more boring) I popped out all my keyboard keys and cleaned all that out real good. That took a while.

I also became addicted to the games on the Arcade here...

But I know what you mean, feeling bad about getting paid to be doing nothing. It sucks. Plus a busy day makes it go by quicker I think. Good luck keeping your sanity!
