swollen stomach on a cat???

A friend of mine recently (her name is jess so it doesn't get confusing) took her cat to the vet, bc she was having tummy problems.
The last time i drove up for a visit i noticed that her tummy was swollen, like she was constipated. She originally thought she was until a day or so later, jess had emailed me and told me she was leaking pus from her female area and was getting dressed to take her in.
I haven't heard from her since, her net is down and my phone lines in town have been messed up.
What i'm wondering, what are the possible problems? I know she was un-spayed and never went out. She was actually fearful of being outdoors, found as a stray kitten.
I'm just really concerned and jess lives too far away for me to drive up to her every day with gas prices and all.

Pyometra. If she is leaking pus it is open but this is a life threatening condition. It's an infected uterus. She needs to get to the ER vet asap or she could go septic.

yea she took her to the vet ummmm thursday i believe. I'm just wondering if the poor girl made it through all right. It's frustrating me bc i haven't heard from my friend since the day she emailed me. Having 6 cats of my own i worry about anyone's pets like they're my own.

Hope your friends cat is okay, and she gets her desexed soon.

I know they are hard to find, but maybe a pay phone somewhere in your area. Or borrow a cell?

Poor kitty, I hope she is ok.

I am very sorry to hear about your friend's cat. Perhaps the cat didn't make it and your friend is grieving. Can you go over there?

If only everyone would spay (and neuter). If only. Poor kitty.
