I have had my fosters since summertime and I am vigilant about checking their poo visually for signs of worms, blood, etc.
They got Drontal before they left the shelter and up until now I have not seen ANY signs of parasites. Until tonight.
I found a pile of vomit in a corner of the livingroom... it had been horked up a while ago b/c is was cold and congealed (sorry). but when I wiped it up, to my disgust I found a 3-4 inch roundworm. UUUUGGGHHHH!!!
Don't know who barfed it up and more importantly, where did it come from? The only thing I can think of is either Doug or I tracked something in on our shoes .... or.... they like to go in the attached garage and roll around, etc. I wonder if there was something on the floor, also tracked in?
Regardless, I now have to treat ALL of the cats with dewormer. I actually have three doses of Revolution and two doses of Advantage Multi already in the house... I thiiiinnnkkkk..... they both treat worms. BUT - I will have to contact the vet in the am and ask about treatment. I saved the little squirmer.... it was dead... out of the body too long. So if the vet wants to SEE if for confirmation... hey, no prob. The little bloodsucker is tucked away in a ziploc bag in the fridge.
Aw, this stinks!
While I will call the vet tomorrow... if anyone has any recommendations on what might work best on SEVEN cats .. feel free to share! (Eventho' Casper is isolated, I think I should treat him, too... the other cats have been in and out of his room of late and it is possible his pan got used. They are fast and sneaky!!)
