Oh boy, I will probably sound so vain for sharing this...but here is what is driving me nuts while I'm making my plans for the next semester.
(the title was my own sarcasm making fun of myself for worrying over something like this in case you're wondering why it's so dramatic
)
So I've been OCD about taking care of my hair ever since I cut it a few months ago, I cut a lot of damage out and I want to grow it again, but I am trying to keep it really healthy. I have to say I am SO proud of my hair, after I stopped using anything with sulfates and washing it as rarely as I can (2 times a week) and using a heat protective spray each time I blow dry it, it has this natural shine, it isn't as frizzy and I am just so excited because I've always had the frizziest hair.
Anyway, my goal for this semester is to do a cardio work out every day....I don't know HOW I can work out without washing my hair every day
It just isn't going to be possible. So I don't know what to choose, what's good for my hair or what's good for my body??? I mean, I am generally not really obsessed with my appearance but this isn't just about my appearance anyway, I've been working so hard to get my hair to be what it is and it just means a lot to me..
Does anyone have any tips on what to do to keep hair as healthy as possible when working out??? I would appreciate it very much...

Your hair is protein... Dead protein... so basically cleaning it is great( I also use soap free soap
) but your hair is a by product of your diet .. a good solid diet will go along way for nice hair...

as for exercise , just a good old water rinse often works

I think you can put conditioner on the ends of your hair, then shampoo the scalp, and rinse it all out at once!

I'll see how dirty it actually feels, today I didn't sweat a lot so I was lucky (it was freezing cold). I may try just rinsing with water because I really don't want to make it dry by removing natural oils by shampooing more. It has been amazing, after I stopped washing it every day it doesn't get nearly as oily, it used to be that I could never go for longer than a day without washing it, my scalp would get really oily and I'd get dandruff but I no longer get any of that all from stopping the use of certain chemicals..

And I've been pretty obsessed with what I'm eating too
After watching that movie Food Inc and finding out what rendering means, I've been eating wild caught fish (even though I previously hated fish) in place of whatever other meat I'd otherwise eat and eating whole grains instead of enriched and cutting out sugars since I get so addicted to sugar that before I know it all of my energy is coming from sugar
So the diet could have to do with my hair getting better..

My hair is very dry. I couldn't shampoo every day, and not more than once a week is best. If I'm showering because I'm sweaty, I assume my scalp is, too, and shampoo. Otherwise, if it isn't due, it doesn't get it, but I do rub it down with a damp cloth every day. Removes surface dirt and knocks the sleep kinks out of it, so that I can comb style. It never sees a blow dryer or a hair product other than shampoo for dry hair. My hair is healthy, and always looks nice and shiny. FWIW.

I cannot let my hair go any more then 2 days without washing, so I always use a little conditioner. You can get some of the conditioner you leave in your hair to help out.

LOL this is a funny thread
. I’ve been made of most of my life because of my hair obsession. In my early 20’s when I was a lot more superficial as most early 20 year olds are, I actually had a “hair schedule” which I won’t go into because it’s really bad LOL hence being made fun of by friends and family forever LOL.

I have the same problem in a different way. Every time I shower it is at least an hour or more to do my hair. My hair is so long and so thick that I have to use heat to tame it, and it takes forever. I can’t just rinse my hair and leave it LOL that’s why I can only work out hard twice a week.

When I was younger and much more into styling my hair I used much more heat then I should have. My remedy for this was to buy the hair dye you get in the drug store and use the deep conditioner that’s included in there. I wish I could remember the brand, I’m assuming they are all pretty much the same though. Those conditioners pretty much saved my hair, they are amazing, i always had my hairdressers ask how my hair got so healthy with all the stress i put it under... it was always the hair dye conditioner.

It takes me an hour to do my hair too ....I am glad I'm not the only one with this problem!!!
If I rinse my hair I have to do it every day in the morning, because that would mean I'd have to wear it curly with lots of gel in it...but then it would be wayy too cold in the morning to let it air dry
My only option is to rinse it in the shower after my workout, which will be in the evening and have crappy looking hair during the next day, all of the sake of exercising
But, I guess that's better than having damaged hair ....

You can do a condition only wash. Cheap conditioner works the best for this, really! You know the ones, the .99 at the grocery store brands.
You glop the stuff on, work it around like it was shampoo, then let it sit for about 5 minutes. Add a little water, then work it around again and rinse it off. It really works, doesn't leave the hair flat or yucky either, just soft and clean.
