ITS A HAIRBALL!...wait, nevermind...

Charlie LOVES drinking from the tap, but sometimes when he gets water on his head he does this really crazy thing.
He'll crouch down, stick his head out and start wheezing, sort of like he's trying to get something out of his throat.

I assumed it was a hairball, but then nothing ever came out!

He's done this many times, and he's never had a hairball. What's up with that??

I'm a little confused. Does he do this only when he gets water on his head?

From what I've seen, yes.
Of course I don't know what he does when I'm not around

Well, but surely you see Charlie at other times than just when he is drinking from the faucet. Maybe the water on his head tickles his sinuses or throat some how.

However a hair ball can cause the hyuk hyuk cough without bringing anything up.

An unproductive hairball cough is kind of like HYUK HYUK then a swallow. They may do it several times in a row. Sometimes it can be because the fur is caught in the throat. Or it's worked it's was down toward the intestine, and can't be brought up, has to be passed the other way.

Get in the habit of grooming Charlie daily, and keep some hairball remedy handy. If it appears he's having hair ball trouble, dose him for a couple of days. Give the hairball remedy on an empty stomach, at least an hour before a meal.

A wheezing cough could indicate other problems. If it continues I'd get him seen by the vet.

How old is Charlie?

Charlie is about 7 months old.
He still sheds minimally, but even so I brush him approximately every other day

If he's doing it after drinking out of the tap, it could be that some of the water went up his nose and then he inhaled.
