My kitten is usually very well behaved, but he LOVES to rip his litterbox to shreds! I put down a plastic liner with newspaper over it, and he manages to rip all of it apart within a few hours. Most of the time he's in there, he's not even going to the bathroom - he just wants to tear up the paper! Any tips on how to stop him from doing this? I'd hate to deny him bathroom privileges, but he's making such a mess!

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

Remove the liners and newspapers and just put litter in the litter box.
You can't "restrict bathroom privileges" to a cat.
A cat has to go when he has to go. If you prevent him from getting to his boxes, you are going to have a whole host of other problems, that you really do not want.
Digging in the litter box is a common past time for many kitties. Unless you think he might be constipated, or have a urinary tract infection, he's just being a cat.
Are his eliminations normal? Any straining or vomiting?
Removing the plastic liner and newspaper and just keeping litter in the box may take away some of the fun for him, and she might lose interest.

Some cats will leave liners alone, most will shred them. Most kittens love to shred paper, actually so do many adult cats

Would plastic liners even be safe to use with a kitten? I have one kitten that tries to eat plastic (plus an adult cat that tries, as well).
If you're trying to use paper because you've heard that clumping litters were bad there are alternatives - pellet litters, worlds best, swheat scoop, or just plain non-clumping litter.

I've never been able to use those liners with any cat. They all tear them up. I wouldn't bother.

Yep, I agree totally. I hate liners. Not only do they get shredded, but urine hides in the folds and it STINKS!!! Just put the litter right in the litter box, no liner or paper, and wash it out whenever you need to. No big deal.
