Good morning my dear friends…

Today I have the privilege to post here your daily question for the Lounge…
I want to mention that all questions here are just for the unique porpoise of fun and of course, to stay in touch with all members, and to know what do you think about it…
of course sometimes some questions are a kind of silly but funniest in the bottom!..
… so lets begin…

When you consider prudent to take out your Christmas ornaments?
still put it on home yet? what you do it with the old ornaments? do you gift to some place or directly throw at the garbage?
.....

...So, start to post here!...

I usually put my decorations up the weekend after Thanksgiving (this year it was the Monday before
and take them down the week after New Years. I still have some snowmen/angels/pine cones up, and of course my BEAUTIFUL sparkly snowflake window clings, but they are more wintery.

As far as getting rid of old decorations I just got married this fall so I'm still in the collection phase. But I read a great suggestion in a magazine this winter about having a swap with friends, everyone brings a few items in specified price ranges and people go around a 'bid' with name tags in a group order. So it's a win win for everyone you get rid of old things you no longer want or need but instead of going in the trash some one who really wants it goes home with it.

Our wedding anniversary is Dec. 6, so I try to at least have the tree up, the wreaths on the doors, and some lights on the mantle by then. I'll put a few more odds and ends out after that. DH's birthday is Dec. 27, so the tree stays up at least that long. The wreaths and lights are still up, and will be until I dig out the Valentine's Day lights and it warms up enough for me to switch them out.

what you do it with the old ornaments? do you gift to some place or directly throw at the garbage?.....
I occasionally sort thru the decorations and ornaments and give them to a free-stuff site so others can enjoy them. I never throw out any decorations---I assume someone else can get some use out of them.

There's no place like home
Also simple answer here. No tree so no ornaments. I had quite a collection at one time. I sold many of them on E-bay one year, and gifted some of the cool hand made ones to friends. I still have a few that I can't part with. Who knows, someday I might not have so many critters and can put up a tree again.

My decorations and tree go up when the xmas pageant is on down town, which this year was mid November.

They come down 1st January.

I only get rid of broken ornaments.

Over the river and through the woods...
We start the outside decorations shortly after Thanksgiving and put the tree up the week before Christmas (real tree so can't put it up too early) and leave them up until at least after the Epiphany (Three Kings Day). I thought it was so sad the day after Christmas I saw people with their trees already out for collection. I can understand New Year's Day though. I'm taking mine down this weekend.

As for ornaments, I don't throw them away unless they are broken. I have sold some of the vintage ones on ebay (inherited from my parent's and grandparents houses) but even with doing that I still have enough to decorate 4 trees!

I also don't put any up. I will put a few small Christmas ornaments on my coffee table but that's about it. I can't be bothered with putting up trees, there are no kids here and for me it is a waste of time. There are some who go way overboard by putting up around 3 trees in one house and there are no kids there, now that to me is totally ridiculous. Not meant to hurt anyone's feelings but I do think that is way over the top. Plus Autumn would ruin everything anyway.

Decorations go up sometime after the 15th December, and come down on Epiphany or the weekend after -- that's one of today's tasks, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I have ornaments I have not used for years but cannot throw out. I doubt I would ever throw out an ornament if it was not broken.

I don't put anything up either. It would not be safe for my decorations to be brought out,as many cats as I have, and 2 doxies as well.I have some ornaments that are quite old,and some are handmade.I'd be really distressed if anything happened to them.I meant to dig them out and pass them on to my son and daughter in law this year, but didn't get to it.One of these days.....
