Smudge, the youngest kitty in my house, less than a year... whiney baby extraordinaire... Clingy to the point of annoyance. He has been pretty whiney since he got neutered, but he's always been clingy and attention hoggy, especially to his older brother, Cuddles. (much to poor Cuddle's dismay) If Smudge is left alone, he cries and cries and cries until another cat comes to find him.

Lately, SMudge gets to go out and play in the snow. When he comes back in he's super-affectionate and rubs all over me, walking across me and the laptop. Climbing up my legs if I'm standing. Nibbling at toes. And always CRYING.

Well, with the snow comes a nice little thing called Static Electricity. Heh heh.

The longer Smudgey boy is outside, the more of it he builds up. When he comes in, and starts wanting to wallow all over me, he gets shocked over and over every time he touches me. A little annoying to me, of course, since I get shocked too, but after the first two or three jolts, he gives up rubbing his butt in my face and goes and lies down somewhere else. I'll put up with a bit of a Zing, if it deters him from those behaviors.

I think it's pretty entertaining when the lights are out and the kittens aren't quite ready for sleep yet. Even though they're both black cats, you can usually tell where they are by the little static sparks

That reminds me of when I was a kid! I Had this old wool blanket I slept with. I'd turn off the lights and put the covers over my head, then slide the blanket back and forth across my knees and then pull it away to watch all the little static sparks! ha ha.

My cats give off sparks in the dark too. Evil me has even figured out that if you pet them vigorously it "recharges" them. What? I just like seeing the sparks!

It is so cool petting the cat in the dark, watching the little sparks. What is not so cool is when I have a cat standing on my lap and DH is petting them and I can feel the electricity grounding through their paws.

Ha ha ha! Mira's mommy, you just doomed my kitties. My husband has spent all day "recharging" the kitties after reading your post!

And katachtig, I've experienced the exact same thing! Maybe I'm as weird as my husband claims, but I almost Like the feeling of the little shocks running through me.

OMG you are an evil person for putting that thought into my head. We have a horrible static problem in our house especially with dry heat sources. Vented oil and a wood stove!!

Dry Heat=static
Static+Long Haired Hercules=FUN FUN FUN For Meowmy!!!

Muwahahhahahaha
