Okay, sigh, now I dont think it was the plastic bowl as I took that away the last 36 hours and he still scratches his face like mad immediately while digesting Natural Balance. We are in the middle of blizzard here, its going take 24hrs to even get to the parking lot. So my question is those sad pictures of cats all bloody and messed up are from the actual scratching action of the cat right? If I concoction something like baby socks on his paws while he eats, the allergic reaction itself cant cause those effects on his skin?
His bowel movements are fine, he overall health is fine once you get past that he has stretches where he goes mad for ten mins with his face and licks his paws alot otherwise he is mostly back to normal afterwards outside excessive grooming. My only concern is the eyes, there is no bloody spots or missing sections on the skin.
I'm just at a complete lose here. We thought it was the chicken from the previous natural balance so we switch to Duck and Pea limited ingredients which seemed fine for 45 days until now. We are nearly out of food options and it seems it must be some small ingredient in all canned food, at least NB.

If it was the chicken, Duck is a risky food to feed... but then it could also be the Pea...
Did you try Venison and Pea?
Also, what about a fish based diet? Like Orijen 6-fish, or Evo Salmon and Herring?
Acana has a formula, non chicken -Acana Grasslands, that you can try too.

Stop this food IMMEDIATELY, and to answer your question, yes, the allergy itself can do that to the skin.

You don't have any other food in the house to feed him today?
Can you cook? Or feed him raw food for the day?

Are you sure it's from the food? Not maybe a new toy or pillow or something he may have rubbed his face on? (Just a crazy thought)

I like your socks idea if you can get them to stay on.

Have you called the vet to see if he ever heard of such a thing, (aside from saying "You have to bring him in")?

Have you called NB to ask them if they changed anything in the formulation?

Do you think it might be that white coating inside the cans? I notice that most canned cat foods seem to have that now. I'm not sure I like it because sometimes a little bit gets scraped off when I scoop the food out of the can.

Oh I do hope your baby will be OK! and I hope that blizzard calms down!!!!

*Hugs*

I am still battling food allergies with CJ, and it takes about 5-6 weeks to see if a change in diet has any effect. Does he only scratch just after eating, or all the time. If it is only after eating, I don't think it is an allergy per say, but something during the eating process(?).
Peas are one of the top allergens. My vet told me Corn, Tuna and Peas are the top. CJ has been off these for about 5 weeks, and he has started scratching a little bit recently. I changed his wet food from Salmon to Beef (Pro Plan) as of last night, and have my fingers crossed.

Allergies are tough to deal with! I hope you get this figured out soon so your sweety can stop suffering. Have you changed laundry detergents? Or dish detergents? Even body wash/soap. My mother's (RB) Himilayan was allergic to Tide detergent. If she washed anything with Tide and Triton sat or rubbed on it, he would start breaking out and scratching. Same is possible with your dish detergent or body wash. How about the floor area where he is fed? Carpet Shampoos can cause sensitivities, as can things used to mop the floors.

Maybe one of these crazy ideas can give you an idea. Hope this helps.

I have allergic cats.
You should see what happened to Cleo from a food.
She got hives everywhere so now she only gets chicken and turkey and is fine.
Coco and Oreo are allergic also.
Coco once had all her fur fall out from a food.
I would stop the food now or he will keep getting worse.

Oh boy, I would switch entirely off of the ProPlan if I were you! Canned ProPlan has wheat, gluten, wheat gluten, and soy in it, all of which are very common allergens to cats! Not to mention the menadione sodium bisulfite which is toxic to dogs and cats. In fact, it's so toxic it was banned for use in human foods by the FDA. Unfortunately, the pet food industry has very little regulation, so it is still allowed in pet food

As far as the OP's cat goes, are you feeding wet or dry food? I would recommend getting your cat off of NB since it sounds like something is obviously causing an allergic reaction and just cook for/go raw for the cat for the next few days so that 1) you can control exactly what your cat is eating and 2) your cat hopefully won't have to suffer with these symptoms as much. After that, try finding a new food to switch to that is more hypoallergenic. Wellness, Orijen, Acana, and Evo are all good ones as well.
