Wow! What a week, I absolutely hate the first week back to work after a long break.

How was your first week back to work, school or any other activities that you might not have done since the holidays?

Our shop has been closed since the 23 of December and I'm amazed at the amount of work that can come in on that very first day you are open after vacation.

We took down all Christmas decorations and put out our spring baseball collection. We are now ready for the spring ball season to start next month.

Since I am retired it makes no difference to me other than DW has returned to teaching shool, leaving me alone with the cats for company. So it is tough being in this house during the day. That's what I get for marrying a younger woman who plans to work 12 more years. That, along with my early forced retirement ain't all it's cracked up to be athough I did get a Rolex and a shiny new Porsche in the deal But. basically retirement sucks when you have no one to enjoy it with.

I'm with Persi & Alley.

No back to work or anything like that for me..... after 14mos of being home now, I am so bloody sick of it. I can't imagine what I'll do if this is how the rest of my life pans out

Nothing ever changes, and its been a very rough week physically.

Hopefully next week is a little better.

Well I only had a 3 day weekend over Christmas and NewYears so it really wasn't that big a deal. But about 1/2 my team (supervisor included) took the week between Christmas and New Years off so they were completely lost. It's funny when your supervisor locks himself out of his computer because he can't remember his password (something I've been "talked to" about many times).

Mondays always suck though.

Difficult and long. It seemed as though Friday would never get here. And now I'm waiting for 4:00...it's terrible to wish one's life away, but I just want to get home today and hibernate.

Hubby and I took Jan 1-10 off so we don't go back until Monday. I am NOT looking forward to it. I've enjoyed hibernating with hubby and not having to worry about working...
It's nice to actually see your spouse, not be comatosed when he comes home due to lack of sleep, then sleep for hours into the night or all night until work the next day.
I think I need a job where I can work 10-5. That'd be enough for me. Not necessarily my bills, but enough for me...

I can relate to that! We were closed from the 18th to the 4th, which is lovely, but this week has not been the best in my life, and I'm glad it's almost over.

I was off from 1:30pm on 12/23 til 1/3. I got so used to relaxing with the kitties and reading, I absolutely depised the fact I had to go back to work! I also ended up having yesterday off because I got sick the day after I went back to work

After awhile I probably would get bored staying home all day, but I definitely could have done with a longer vacay

I work in a medical ICU and I have been off from work since 12/30!!! I go back in tonight for my first night back...I anticipate it to be slower than it is during the holiday season. During the holidays, we get a lot of traumas from drunk driving accidents and overdoses. After the holidays, things just tend to slow down for a month or so.[/b]

Nothing much changed for me since I'm retired yayyyyyyy. In fact since I don't work, Friday seems to come around way to soon, it seems every time I look around it's Friday again and since I don't work I don't care much for the weekends anymore. I do all of my errands during the week since there are not as many people around and the weekends I try to stay indoors. Retirement is a completely opposite way to live and I love it. As I've mentioned before, all of us who have worked all our lives deserve this bit of freedom.

Sorry to hear you feel that way. I love being retired, I had to retire because of health issues so I was forced to also. I am loving it tho, you should be happy to be home with the kitties and never being told what to do. No one can ever tell me what to do now and if I make mistakes, no one to blame but myself. It's a good trade-off.

Usually surgery is slow during the first month of the new year....nobody has their deductible paid yet, so only urgent and emergent surgeries are done. To be honest, we've been crazy busy this past week. I'm so glad it's the weekend. I'd love to stay home and vegetate all weekend, but we've got a big dinner party to attend in Detroit, hosted by one of the surgeons we work with. It's his annual Christmas/New Year's party/thank you event. (Snarky me...I'd rather stay home and cuddle with the kitties!)

I was off for ten days, and it was nice! However I don't mind getting back to work so much as we were very lazy and overate on holiday, and I really need to get out and exercise.

Well, school started back last Monday (the 4th) for me. I studied during my break, so I was prepared.
On Thursday and Friday we got snow here, so classes were cancelled...so I'll say the first week back wasn't soo bad considering my suprise "mini vacation"

I had a total of about 7 days off between the 24th and the 3rd - but I don't mind it means it's not so hard for me to get up and go to work
