Oxstrin~Anyone Use It?

I received a bottle of this free the last time I ordered Feliway. Sounds interesting, but not sure if it's all it's cracked up to be. Looking for experiences, personal testimonies, and other reviews.

Never heard of it. I'd be wary. I'd give the vet a call and ask them.

I trust Nutra Max, but do not believe in giving healthy cats vitamin supplements. If they are on a good quality food they do not need vitamin supplements.

In addition, too much vitamin A causes toxicity in cats. It is fat soluble, meaning it is stored in fat and builds up. K & D are also fat soluble and at risk for overdosing.

As the other poster said, talk to your vet before giving your cat anything.

I don't think much of a company that would send free samples of supplements through the mail like that. they don't know the health of the cats involved.

If this were me, I would be writing a letter to complain. .

I like to let companies know when I think they've goofed. Most companies do welcome feed back. And sometimes it gets results.

I've not given any to either of my cats. The bottle's been sitting on my desk for a month! I was somewhat leery of giving it to them because they eat a very well-balanced diet. Thanks for your input!

Interesting, I was just about to ask same question and found this post. I received a free bottle of Oxstrin from Entirelypets when I bought something else. Did you end up trying it out? I could not find much feedback.

One thing that I was thinking was that when Teppo had UTI and got a B-vitamin shot it seemed to really have a positive effect on his fur. Not that his fur was too lousy but it really 'pimped' it out. (At least I assume it was the B-vitamin not the antibiotics or steroids). Teppo occasionally suffers from some mild fur-skin issues, and if I recall right some of the B-vitamins are connected to skin stuff.

Oxstrin has a bunch of B and I was wondering if Teppo sometimes is lacking some of that from his diet. Maybe someone has used this product, discussed these types of issues with their vet? I have no idea how much is good and how much is too much though. Luckily my bottle is good for another year. I think I will bring it up at next check up - and probably will get a shrug from vet, heh. There probably would not be much harm trying a sprinkle now and then if he is not getting his fair share through diet or somehow needs more.

Cats can overdose on certain vitamins. When I was giving Ootay her B-12 and B complex shots, the vet had me giving them only every 2 weeks. When I said the effects seemed to last only 10 days, she approved every 10 days, but no more frequent than that.

And A & D are especially toxic if cats get too much, and it builds up in their little systems.

Next time I order from them, if I get a free bottle of this stuff, I will let them know what I think of them pushing something like that without knowing anything about the pet's health.
