Yes, mac & cheese is amazing!!!

I admit, I love the Kraft stuff with the bright orange powder 'cheese'..

I like 'real' mac & cheese too though.
I only ever made it from scratch once years ago and I didn't like it, it was too hard.

And all the recipes I see, including the one from Winchester -thanks!- look like they would turn into a block of cheddar with noodles mixed in after about 2 minutes out of the oven. But perhaps if I tried a softer cheese it might be creamier? I don't know. One of these days I will try it again.

I love the mac & cheese at this beer bar/BBQ restaurant we go to a lot, they make it with a gruyere and beer sauce, with chiles and bacon, baked in a small skillet with breadcrumbs on top. I don't do the meat thing so I get it wothout bacon and add asparagus instead. It's so good!!

Yes... I love Mac N Cheese. When I lived on my own I ate it for dinner at least twice a week. Now that I live with Dad I have to cut back and only eat it for lunches as they don't "do" Mac N Cheese!

I actualy prefer the boxed stuff with the bright orange powder. I know, I'm a freak. I keep the "Easy Mac" cups available for emergencies and buy the boxes at Costco in 24 packs. I think I might have a problem.

I made what many of us Southerners refer to as macaroni pie for dinner tonight. It is made from scratch, baked macaroni and cheese.

But then, who am I to judge? I have to admit that, when I was a kid, I used to eat cold leftover mac'n'cheese for breakfast -- dipped in ketchup.
Stewed tomatoes or even spaghetti sauce over mac and cheese is yummy! Don't knock it until you tried it (much better than ketchup
)

Must admit...I had to make myself macaroni and cheese after reading this thread the night before last! Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is one of the best childhood memories I have!

Nah, nothin's better'n ketchup!

Actually, I think my aversion may have to do with a Girl Scout Halloween party I remember from long ago, where I was blindfolded and forced to stick my hand in a bowl of squishy warm macaroni, crushed tomatos, and peeled grapes -- "guts and eyeballs," they called it.

Those Girl Scouts can be vicious!
