....and could use a few vibes that everything comes together for him! We heard his raggedy breathing and were worried he was developing bronchitis or pneuomonia. Gary thankfully was able to crate him and we got him to the vet yesterday.

Turns out this little guy is just 4.5 pounds at about 8 months old.

His asthma - exacerbated by the extreme cold - means he can't be neutered yet (maybe Friday) and definitely cannot be released back outside.

Thankfully, when someone from a local rescue stopped by the vet yesterday afternoon, one of the staff asked if they might be able to foster him. The woman met "little talker kitty," and said she thinks they'll be able to take him!
We're to call once he's been neutered.

We didn't think to bring a kitty house and toys or feliway for his cage yesterday, so we went to visit him today and brought him those things. We spent about 1/2 hour snuggling with him. He's scared - but relaxes when held and is quite the little purr baby!

We so appreciate vibes sent his way that this works out for him!

Good vibes for him. It is so distressing to see an asthma attack in a young cat - it looks so painful and confusing for them.

I hope he feels better.
Just to let you know my Coco has had asthma since she was very young and she is 17.10 years old now.
There are alot of things that can be done for asthma.
Good luck with him.

He is truly a beautiful little one.

Banshee had asthma and managed to live a good life. She was on meds for about 4 years or so.

I hope this little fellow does well.

Thank you for all the vibes sent his way!

We're sure he's going to be OK healthwise.
Our biggest concern is that we are no longer in a position to be able to foster... we're back living in the RV with 7 cats, and we just can't upset the very delicate balance we've managed to create. We just really hope this foster situation comes through for him.

IT IS NOT ASTHMA, IT IS LUNGWORM!

When we rescued Flowerbelle in 2003, she had lungworm. At the vet, they said they had never seen it before. Our vet looked up what records he could find, and to his knowledge it was the first reported case in 20 years. They've seen one more since then.

The vet practice where little Talker is says they've seen 7 cases in the past five years.

Flowerbelle was rescued 10 miles away from here.

How odd is it that we wind up rescuing two cats with lungworm?????

Gary told the vet staff when we dropped him off he thought it was possible it was lungworm. He told the owner of the practice yesterday when we visited little Talker that he thought it could be lungworm.

...so they started him on Panacur. The 10 days should do the trick.
It did for Flowerbelle.

I'm not sure where we go from here, because we were out all day. We called in twice, but it was crazy so we didn't get to speak to anyone who knew anything - but the vet tending to him left a message which was waiting for us. Guess who's on the phone a minute after they open tomorrow?

I don't know if the potential foster would take him until the Panacur course is done or not, but we don't want to leave him there for 10 days.
We'll just have to see what tomorrow brings.

There's no place like home
What are the odds to have 2 rescues with lungworm?!?!?!?

I'm convinced you have the sign in front of your home that tells sick cats to come to you when their lives are in danger. Humans can't see it, but cats can!

Sending major vibes to the little one!!

Gary's right. We've now got to work on trapping the other two kittens. If they've been eating at the same places, they very well may have lungworm too.
