Hello all. I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my cat. Just a quick background info: Elliott is a male cat, 7 years old, only lived with our Boston Terrier and no other animals. My husband and I moved into our new house about a month ago and something that I have noticed with Elliott (cat) is that he is VERY vocal now. At the old house, he used to meow if I was near his food bowl in order to get my attention to feed him but now it's constant MEOW. It doesn't matter where I'm walking, when, no matter what -- he's "talking". Then when I DO feed him, he's good for about half an hour and then will come up to me wherever I am in the house and meow until I get up to feed him more. But that's not it! If I even try to put him in his own room, he will beat on the door until it's opened. So that idea was tossed on the first few nights I tried that. Then I tried just closing our bedroom door while he had the entire house to roam at night but it never failed -- at 5am, he was standing outside my door "knocking" and meowing. This has gone on for a little over a month now and it's getting the best of me. Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this behavior? He's such a sweet, lovable cat but this just doesn't make ANY sense to me.

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

I think he may be stressed and just getting used to things. Just talk to him comfortingly when he's very vocal - and he should come to realize that the most important thing - you - are at the new place. Also, your scents will start to permeate the new place too and will help him become familiar with it, I think.
Cats hate change. Especially moving, I hear.
Someone once wrote in about a cat who'd become very distressed at night after a move. You might try leaving some lights on until he knows the place well enough he can find his way around in the dark.

There might have been cats or animals in the house beforehand that could be causing stress as well. In addition to new things and new smells he's stressed out and scared.
Have you tried Feliway to help reduce his stress? Might help. My kitties have certain blankets that they love and that blanket is theirs and they know it. While I'm moving them I put the blankets away to signify "not home".. When we first get a new place I break out the blankets and all is good.
Does he have a particular toy/bed/blanket that he loves that you haven't pulled out already? Sitting with him next to his bed/blanket or playing with him will reduce his stress and make him feel more like "at home."
