I'm so sorry for the terrible news. You, your mom and your entire family and in my thoughts and prayers!

One thing I do want to ask though...have you talked to the doctor yourself about this? The reason I asked is because when my dad was sick, mom didn't really comprehend everything the doctor was saying...it was like she picked up bits and pieces and made her own conversation out of it in her mind and the story I got from her and from the doctors, while still having the same bit of truth, were very different. I'm just thinking that maybe it's not quite as bad as it sounds (definitely serious though). I would get it straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

Thank you all, it means a lot to me.
My mother is my best friend and I'm really having a difficult time accepting the reality that she won't always be there for me.

I will not be going to Vegas as she will be home Saturday or Sunday.

My stepdad and she both talked to the doctor.
Her heart valve was bad to begin with, but was not crucial enough to require surgery, that is until the heart attack.
So the diagnosis/prognosis is not a huge surprise, but the heart attack was.
She and her cardiologist had planned for valve replacement this next fall, now however, she is not a surgical candidate.

I would so do research on this and at the very least get a second opinion. It may be the heart attack did damage, but I do know I would not just accept one opinion on something like this.
