Ive always been told that cats...particularly neutered... do not like their tummy being rubbed, and are likely to attack.
Just wondering how true this is. When my little boy is feeling extra affectionate he will rub up with his body for pats then after a while roll onto his back for a tummy rub, while he purrs his little heart out...

Is this odd or are there other cats out there who enjoy a tummy rub? lol

Many cats enjoy tummy rubs, many other don't

All mine do, neutered and entires. They flop on my lap or next to me for a good rub, they purr and lick my arm/hand as I rub.

It depends entirely on the cat, gender and age have nothing to do with it. Dushka adores tummy rubs and Persil, 5 year old girl, won't let you touch her there. Wellington and Bonaparte, neutered males, love it sometimes, but they let you know when they have had enough. Biscotte, 3 year old former feral girl, is just learning to like it - but she is also just learning to be a real lap cat. The others can take it or leave it.

I usually find that we can tummy rub for a bit and then when over stimulated the paws slap together like a beartrap. One of the moggies adores it though and will wave her back paws about while you scruffle her plushy belly fur, her eyes closed in abject bliss.

My Alley
used to adore tummy rubs. She would lay there for hours if you would keep petting that long!

Xander is somewhat indifferent. He doesn't mind them, but doesn't seem too into them either.

As for Riley, you take your life in your hands if you rub his

I have 3 females and 1 male.. the male is the only one who likes his tummy rubbed, but he isn't neutered yet, so we'll see after that. He's still only 4 months old.

My kitty Jasmine likes tummy rubs, but my other kitty Boo HATES them and pretty much tries to rip my fingers to bits whenever I try to give her one.

I think every cat has it's own likes and dislikes when it comes to petting. Tho, Jasmine is the first female cat I've had that liked tummy rubs. All the male cats I've had before loved them, but no female cats seemed to like them that much. At least, none before Jasmine came, that is.

My Kipper LOOOOOOOOVES his belly rubbed. So much so he wakes me up 3-4 times a night to do just that
. After a while he wants to play and starts attacking my hand. That's about when I stop because it freaking hurts
.

None of my others like it though. I got a couple that will attempt to take your hand off your arm if you even try
.

My female LOVES LOVES LOVES tummy rubs!!! She will purr up a storm, drool all over me, roll around with legs and arms wide open and get all squinty eyed like she does when she is super loving LOL.

One of my males will attack me viciously if I even go near the area. He will bite so hard he has made me bleed, itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s the only time he will ever bite. My other male sometimes likes it, sometimes doesnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t, if he doesnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t like it he will just leave.

My guys are so weird, they roll onto their backs and meow at me until I rub their tummies, and then...ATTACK! As soon as touch them, they grab my hand with their little paws and gnaw on it
It kinda hurts, but its adorable so I let them do it

Rosalie actually enjoys a good tummy rub, Zoey, on the other hand, looks at me like I've grown an extra head if I try to rub her belly, lol.

My two girls love to have their bellies rubbed, especially Kuce. Luvbug though won't let you touch his tummy for more then one second (and thats when he's sleeping). My RB cat Sphinx didn't like his tummy touched either. BTW - they are are spayed/neutered.

My Gus (male, neutered) HATED his belly to even be touched and if you tried he would attack your hand/arm. My Nora on the other hand (female, spayed) LOVES her belly to be rubbed and will lay there forever letting you do so.
