So my 4 year old orange tabby, Bert, has a bladder stone larger than a pea. I noticed bloody urine and he was the closest cat, so I took him in. He peed while at the vet, and it was bright red. Vet said his ph is good, not sure what else. So what is a bladder stone? Is it crystals? What kind? His surgery to remove it is scheduled for Thursday. Said they will analyze it then. I've had a cat with struvite crystals before. Henry had PU surgery 2 years ago and has been fine ever since. Is bladder stones similar? Or totally different?

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

The stones come from the crystals.
My cat had stones but she was put on food for them and that broke them up.
Male cats most of the them need surgery when they have stones.
My sister cat had the surgery in 2008 and has been fine since.

Has your sisters cat needed to stay on prescription food or was the surgery all he needed and he was good to go?
