I've seen it twice in 3D now and loved it even more the second time! I thought the storyline was wonderful. Predictable? Yeah, but I wouldn't have been happy if it had turned out any other way

We just got back from seeing it in 3D and we (my husband and my son included) all thought it was fantastic! I want to go see it again. I thought the plot was great, not boring at all, and yes the ending was somewhat predictable, but not many movies have a twist at the end anymore. I thought it was an all around great movie, and I can't wait to buy it on dvd.

Pretty much what I thought. Predictable, but just so well executed.

I am going to brag again...but a friend of mine worked on this movie as an assistant TD- he works for Weta Studios which is owned by Peter Jackson. I am so proud of him that he has achieved his dream of working in animation and it has come true and working on this movie is probably one of his proudest moments. It looks like he may be working on the Tintin movie next which is what he has been hoping for.

I think this movie is next on the list for me to see.

I actually saw the movie once with a friend without 3d and again because my girlfriend wanted to see it in 3d.

I don't think the 3d added anything beyond an extra 2 dollars a ticket. Even through the glasses the picture is not even near as stunning as the HD 2d version. I didn't mind seeing the movie twice just because I want to encourage the beautiful, beautiful computer graphics from Hollywood that came out of Avatar.

I definitely saw the movie twice more because of the artwork than the story, but the story isn't bad.

And to answer the question, the last time an audience clapped at the end of a movie I was in was at the end of the Bourne Ultimatum, which was a fantastic movie.

Kellye, kudos to your friend!

We saw the movie yesterday, and loved it! Yes, the storyline was predictable, but enjoyable none the less. We were going for the 3D experience, and weren't let down at all. I thought it was fantastic, and more than once wanted to reach out and touch one of those floating jelly-fish seed thingies.
Beautifully made movie.
I'm looking forward to Alice in Wonderland now after seeing the 3D trailer yesterday. That looks like an very entertaining movie! Love Johnny Depp.

LOVED IT!!!!!!

I saw it tonight after class with my best friend Renae. (We had an imprmptu "girls night" since we both had a bad day).
It was AEWSOME!!!!!!!!
I loved it and highly recommend it!!!
(It was also the first time I've ever seen a movie in 3-D (not so fun if you have Vertigo like me, but overall it was still cool to see it in 3-D for the special effects!!)

We were able to see a 20 minute sneak peek of the movie in 3D a couple months before it was released, which was very cool. However, the whole time I was desperately trying to find a point to focus on and felt terribly nauseous.
Has anyone experienced that with this movie?

My husband loved it and really wants to see it in 3D, but there's no way I could sit through 2.5 hours of feeling like that.
Of course he doesn't want to go without me.
Love that man, but I don't want him to miss such a great movie because I'm a freak
and can't do the 3D. But maybe it was because they jumped right into the action sequences and I couldn't adjust to it?

I want to see it, I just don't know if the 3D would be ok for me.

When I watched it there were a couple "in your face" 3D moments, but most of the time I didn't realize or forgot it was in 3D. It just gave some extra dimension to the movie. Can you go and if you start getting sick just close your eyes or step out of the theater for a moment?

I'd say try it in 3D and if you start to feel sick, leave and get your money back.

Easily one of the top 10 best movies I have ever seen. With unbelievable visuals, a great cast, and an intricate and relevant plot, it will satisfy almost anyone.

The film stars Sam Worthington (Terminator Salvation) as Corporal Jake Sully, a paraplegic Marine. Using a remote controlled body, called an Avatar, he is to convince the natives of the planet Pandora to leave their home so the government and military can mine it. After they refuse to move, the military plan to use force to kill all who oppose them. While trying to learn the ways of the natives, Jake falls in love with Neytiri, a native of Pandora, played by Zoe Saldana (Star Trek (2009), Pirates of the Caribbean). As the film progresses, he has to decide who's side he is on. Will he help the army attack the beings on Pandora, or will he help his new-found friends?

If you only see one movie this year, make it Avatar. It was truly incredible. With a budget of over $500 million, James Cameron once again delivers with one of the most expensive movies to make. And it has paid off. 3 weeks after release, it grossed over $1 billion worldwide, making it the fastest grossing film of all time.

This movie is a must see for any movie goer. It will not disappoint.
And spend the extra money to see it in IMAX! And arrive early so you can get right dead center!

I wish we could have seen it in IMAX, I would have loved that. Our IMAX theater isn't playing it, though.

Heidi- my DH didn't feel so great after watching the movie. He enjoyed the movie, and the experience on the whole, but he felt kind of light-headed and dizzy afterwards, and had to actually take his glasses off a couple of times during the movie. So you're not alone!

We were supposed to go to see it 3D today but me and my friend both got sick so we had to skip it. We would have had great seats so it makes me even more bummed.
Maybe next week..

When I went to see Inglourious Basterds, so not that long ago. It was also deserved.

I hope I get to see the Avatar soon.

You may be right, it could have been just because they jumped right into the action sequences. I get very bad motion sickness from just about everything (even backing up in the car, blair witch project made me sick, etc). Strangely enough, I did not experience motion sickness when I watched Avatar in 3D. There were moments when I would feel just a temporary wave of dizziness during certain action scenes or looking at the "monitors" they have in the movie but overall, I did OK. Like someone else said, during most of the movie, it's not the "in your face" 3D that leaves you scrambling for something to focus on. Maybe you could try it in 3D and just take your glasses off for a bit if the 3D becomes too overwhelming??

I finally saw it tonight... I thought it was great. The plot really worked on me, as someone who is already pretty unhappy with the direction the human race is going
I wasn't really expecting a fairy tale happy ending, so I was pleasantly surprised with the ending.
ETA: I forgot to mention the special effects. I thought they were used very appropriately, not diverging from the story or making any unnecessary show off scene so that was very impressive.

I'd love to be in that world. It's so beautiful. I hate how humanity has abused this world.
