Do your cats come to you when in trouble?

Do they look for you to solve their troubles and save them, or do they run away from you?

In my experience there are two types of kitties.... More usual then not those that prefer to seclude themselves when in trouble... and then there is LUCKY

Lucky will come to me whenever she is in pain, hurt, in trouble.
The other day she had the horrible experience of a plastic bag handle stuck on her neck - ran like crazy around the apartment, then up the shelves right above my head. I was SO SCARED she was going to jump with that thing on her neck, and have a false land on the table... But she stood there very still while I stood up, went up on the couch, caught her enough to grab the bag and split the handle. Then took her off in my arms to calm her down...
Had it been Bugsy or Hope, I am pretty sure they would've jumped.

Today I was sleeping, and there she comes, jumps on the bed, crying and scooting her butt desperately on my bed, right in front of me (nice ). So, She stopped and just made sure to cry and cry...
I got up, took her, and she let me take her to the bathroom, access the situation, cut off the poop, clean up the area, and pet her nicely until she was calm again...

Again,l had it been Hope or Bugsy, I am pretty sure they would ran under the bed, instead of looked for my help...

What about your kitties, do they count on you to solve their problems? Or do they say "thank you, but no thank you"?

My cats don't know what trouble is

They normally yell when shut in a cupboard, or if they can't get off the curtain rail

Never been stuck in bags or had poopy butts.

Hehe different cats, different troubles - can't imagine an 18lb ragdoll stuck on the curtain rails

Ootay (rb 5/09) did come to me when she needed help always and Mazy always does. Tolly tends to go off in isolation when he doesn't feel good.

Jennie, too, made sure to show me, the time she was peeing blood, by running down to the litter boxes when I was scooping and squatting in front of me on the platform, but not in the box.

Lucky comes crying to me when the puppy wants to play with her. She whines until I make Bear go away.

Well, I can always tell when they don't feel good because they are more snuggly then usual. When Cammy throws up she ALWAYS comes and finds me. I'm not sure about other things.

The bag handle caught on the cat is about the only horrifying experience we've had, so far.

I pictured the running that you described. Running away from that awful noise they can't get away from, trying to get it off. I've had this problem with both a plastic bag and a paper bag with handles - who doesn't just love to crawl in a bag ???. Well, the race is on, and just try and catch them !!!

Today, the rattle of plastic bags is enough to send them off into another room.

So, I'd say - for plastic bags - it's run for your life around here. Fortunately, like you, I've been able to catch them, remove the offending item, and cuddle, more cuddles, and rub the cheeks to get the purr, then - a treat.

Yes - my foster boys will come to me when there is an issue... not all of them and not all of the time. Arch had a nasty BM... and came to me crying and circling.... when I saw his behind and it needed cleaning. Well, up on the bath counter and wet paper towel.. and..... you get the idea....

He purred and purred. He knew Meowmy would help him.

If something is not right, like a door is closed when it is usually open... I hear about it. Tummy upset - usually they are off by themselves and I find the results. Ugh! Yuck!

They do tell me when they WANT something too. Prowler knows several words - his name, toy, treat and food! And he circles in front of the cabinet where I keep the Feline Flyer... crying his head off. Or I will say.. what do you want. .. and run down the list... and when he hears what he wants.. I get meeeeooooooowwwwww!!!

Something like that happened to one of my kitties. Jasmine got a bag around her neck but what she did was that she ran straight into my stomach (I was sitting on the floor) and knocked the wind outta me. Then she sat rather calmly in my lap while I took it off her.
But I've noticed that pretty much all my cats come to me when they're in trouble.
I had this cat called Grey once that used to try and go into my pet chickens nest just so he can see what was in it, then when my hen started chasing him, he'd rush to me and hide behind me as I tried to make the hen clam down!

Haha pyjamas I had to laugh at that..

Buddy got a sturdy Outback takeout bag handle around his neck and ran so fast I couldn't catch him... the bag caught on something and the handle snapped off at one side relatively easily, I don't think it even hurt him.

He still loves all sorts of bags

Only Siri, and only when one of the other cats have scared her. Sho does like to pick on her and will go after her - she'll run to me and jump in my lap. Which has resulted in Sho scratching me by mistake. Last night while in bed she came flying at me because Sherman was chasing her (he chases all of the cats, he thinks its a game - then gets confused when they won't chase after him)...thankfully her claws are kept trimmed.

As for the rest of the things people have listed, no. They only come yell at me to feed them.

Clyde just yells for me to come find him!

Both Spooky and Mulder come to me when they don't feel good, are scared or have a problem. I have never met any other cats that did that.

Fluffy runs to her daddy when she is bad and gets caught. He thinks she can do no wrong.

We experienced the "bag around the neck" thing just last week with Luna. She got a large paper shopping bag, not just around her neck, but because she's so petite, around one of her front legs, too. I was asleep, but my fiance was awake and all of a sudden there's this loud noise coming through the living room. Somewhere along the way, she managed to rip off most of the bag and then hid so he couldn't find her.

He woke me up and I found her under my desk with the handle around her and a scrap of the bag still attached, holding it on.

Albus, on the other hand, comes to us when something is awry. Usually it invloves food- he'll come over and yell at us, and I can usually tell from the tone that he's trying to alert us of a problem (a low food bowl! emergency!) and just just his usual chattering. If you get up and ask him to take you to the problem, he'll walk you over to the food bowls. It's really cute!

Well, when you were at my house you got to see Alley for about five seconds after locating her secret hiding place. That should answer your question as far as Alley is concerned. Persi is completely different, he demands help with things all the time, but some of the things he wants to do are forbidden, like he cries for help in opening a box of chocolate. His grooming table is out on the balcony and due to the unusual weather we have been having in the teens I had not been taking him out and brushing him as per usual. He developed some mats and it has been warm this week so I have returned to brushing him every day but he cries when I get the mats out but nonetheless he looks up with eyes that say "help me Dad, please get these mats out of my fur". He has a few more I need to get out today. This afternoon I can guarantee you that he will sit in his classic way by the balcony door waiting for me to get his beautiful coat back to normal.

So yep, Persi always asks for help. Alley never asks for help. Running to her secret hiding place is her solution for everything..
