I'm so excited!!
Growing up, and actually up until Mom passed 5 years ago, Christmas dinner was italian breaded steak. DH's family always does ham or turkey so I usually make it for just us Christmas weekend but money was tight and it's not a cheap meal to make. But since we got another pay we splurged and got all the ingredients over the weekend.

So it will be breaded steak (not to be confused with country fried steak...this is baked), parsley potatoes, stewed tomatoes, peas, green beans (because DH hates peas), candied sweet potatoes, rolls and I have NO idea for dessert.

I'm going to have to get started soon. The steak doesn't take that long, the prep work for the breading is what takes hours! I just hope my bad luck streak from yesterday is over and everything turns out ok. It's just not Christmas for me until I smell that cooking!

Well, technically I can only share the recipe if I married you or adopted you (according to my family)
but I CAN share the process and you can take it from there.

You start with round steak (the recipe originally was for veal but too expensive plus I have problems with veal). Cut off all the fat you can and cut into smaller pieces (smaller they are the quicker they get done).

Breading: grate slightly stale hamburger buns (or cheat and use a small food processer) until fine. Usually for 2 round steaks I use 12 pack of buns. Add parmesan cheese (the kind in the can, not shredded). Fresh parsley (only the leaves, not the stems...this is what is a pain). Add salt, pepper, thyme, orageno to taste.

The secret (my family is going to kill me!), soak each piece of steak in olive oil for a few minutes. I usualy just use a large serving bowl, then pat the breading onto each side. Put on cookie sheets covered with heavy duty aluminum foil (saves cleaning time). It's a messy process and you will get breading in the oil and oil in the breading. Pour the remaining olive oil (with breading in it...it will happen) over everything for extra flavor and bake at 350 for 1- 1 1/2 hours or until brown.

Also great with chicken breasts.

There, I didn't actually give out the recipe as in how much of everything, so try it!
