Sadie is such a scaredy cat, I was worried about her ever finding a home. My friend Diane is also my (most excellent) pet sitter and a certified therapy dog handler. She assessed Sadie Tuesday and said she also thought she would make a good therapy dog, so I made plans to take lessons, once her heartworm treatments were done.
Diane has sons in their 20s. One of their friends, a young man with hip deformities, asked her about a dog and she matched him up with Sadie. They were here yesterday and after introductions, she went home!
His name is Eric and he is the sweetest kid - I was thrilled that it seems like a match made in heaven! He's empathetic and was so excited about having a new dog!
We are still having the treatments done at the end of the month. It is so nice when things come together. Gives me hope for all the people working to save one cat or dog at a time.
