On our way out to dinner at Denny's we always take Fort down and while passing through everyone STOPED suddenly and was forced to turn off by a single cop car blocking the road.

The officer was in the process of lighting flares.

A little ways down after making some crazy sub division turns to get back out on to Fort, I could see that there were about 5 other cars with their lights on further down.

Hmm... What's going on?

So we continued to dinner and ate, but on the way back...A new development!!

Industrial sized Halogen lights on Tripods were focused on an area of the ground right next to the road. It looked like down in a ditch of some sort...

Did they find a body?

I am so bad for being a curious bystander... Like the people who slow down at the scene of an accident. I hope they didn't find a body...but what else could it be?

This just sucks if they did find a body because my grandpa is already paranoid about all of the "kooks" out there that might get me.

It's fairly close to home, maybe 2 miles out from where I live.

Am I bad for speculating?
I am scouring the internet now looking for clues.

I almost wish I had my camera with me in the car so I could have taken pictures of all of the cop cars!

I cant find anything on the internet so it looks like I will have to wait for the 5AM news.

Perhaps the news stations just aren't aware of it yet, I can't believe there isn't any buzz on any of the news websites!

Wow scary! A few months ago on a Friday night we heard a bunch of bangs which I thought did not sound like firecrackers... I thought it might be gunshots. It was a friday night, and there's a cool local news site called LBReport.com which is updated kind of around the clock by I don't even know who... anyway I turned on the computer and looked on there and kept refreshing the site til they had something. Turned out there were TWO shootings about a half hour apart, one downtown which is what I think we heard (about a mile or so away) and another at a high school after the homecoming football game where a 16 year old girl was killed. Bad night in the LBC for sure. Oh yeah it was the night before Halloween, and BF and I were both glad we decided to stay in and watch movies.

Yeah whenever I hear sirens that seem to be stopping close by I'm always looking out the window to see if I can see what's going on.. nosy neighbor...

But anyway I do hope there aren't any dead people involved in that incident... No good.

I think curiosity is natural. I was detoured from my usual route home and when I rejoined the road, I saw several emergency workers and police. I found out later that the police had been chasing some bank robbers and shot them dead at that intersection. It kind of unnerved me because if I had left work 10 minutes earlier, I would have been in the middle of it.

What? No scanner?

My mother drive me crazy with her scanner. I call her to chat, and all I can hear is the police scanner in the background. They gave me one for Christmas about 10 years ago, but I never even took it out of the box. I re-gifted it (sort of....) I gave it to my aunt, but told her it had been a gift from my parents, and it had never been used. She's nutso about police scanners too. I must have missed that gene (whew!!)
