Grrr....this has been a sucky holiday season. First my grandma passed away. Then I got laid off. I've taken some time to get well both physically and mentally and now I need to get to work again. I haven't had a resume in ummm.....well....ummmmmm ....a LOOONNNGGG time

My resume skill are very lacking and I would love some help if anyone is willing. I've got my sights on a couple of jobs closer to my parents and want to make my resume shine. It has to stand out so that employers will sit up and take notice.

Thanks
Edy

Simple and easy to read...

If you have been working for over 10 years limit experience / jobs to the last ten years... Aim for 1 page if possible... DO NOT exagerate titles or experience but DO HIGHLIGHT your strenghs in each job ..

I am happy to help, you caught me at the right time before I get sick of all of the resumes at work (our application process for September just started so they wont start coming in for a few weeks)

The basics
- keep it simple
- keep it short but concise
- they are not stupid, they know if you worked at McDonalds that you did food prep etc so dont waste space telling them it
- always have a tailored cover letter (find out who will be hiring and address it to them)
- unless emailing, do use a resume stock paper and do not put in a folder (I hate having to pull them out of folders to copy for the rest of the hiring committee)
- If you have had lots of jobs, highlight them under relevant experience rather than listing every single job

Thanks! When I get it done I'll post it so that I can get some pointers on how to make it better.

She would throw all rÃ[emoji]169[/emoji]sumÃ[emoji]169[/emoji]s in the trash without looking at them if they began resume instead of rÃ[emoji]169[/emoji]sumÃ[emoji]169[/emoji].

Very likely -- but I've never figured out how to create the accents in a manner that works consistently from one typestyle to another. Can you enlighten me, Lee? Pleeeeease?
