Dear all that is good it is freaking cold here!!!
-5 at last check, actual temp. Not wind chill, that is just not right!
My heat is back on, but heck, thats just darn cold!!!!
I long for the sweating of 95 degree summer days when I could complain about the heat!

You know, Dottie's folks used to come down from Massachusetts and visit us here in August or September.

"How do stand this heat?" they always asked.

1. Take off more clothes.
2. Stay in the air conditioning.
3. Stay in the shade.
4. Dont' work so hard.
5. Find a breeze.
6. Drink more water.

And, since that is our "bad" weather, we don't have to shovel it out of our driveways.

I went to college down here (except for one year in France). I graduated and moved to PA for a teaching job. After 3 years there, we couldn't move back here fast enough.

Yeah I am a native Floridian so my blood is about as thin as water!

It was 45 degrees here this morning, and we all thought hell had frozen over!

Where ever it is that you are getting that -5 degree weather, you can rest assured that us Floridians are not rushing to move there any time soon!

Curl up with some kittes and a feather blanket and try and stay warm!

And I thought the feral kitties had it bad here with the 14 degrees (with the wind it's "real feel" 4 degrees).

We lost heat two memorable times. Once was in the house in January - it was out for 5 days because electricity in the whole area was out. We had a camping stove we used to heat up water to keep the fish alive. Thankfully, we had a space heater that used propane, so we were able to keep the bedroom warm.

The other time was in the RV. That was also electricity. It was only overnight, but Gary had to keep heating up the iron skillet on the stove and wave it around the RV - he had to do this for 10 - 12 hours! He managed to keep it 42 degrees in here.

Here's to warmer days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is below freezing and will stay that way for several days. Wednesday it may warm up enough to snow.

It's warmed up, Tiger, weather liar on CJME said -18
° and windchills are only -33. So we are actually above -5°F. but that wind is just howling from the east. I am betting I have LOTS of snow to remove from the drive, and it ain't a city drive either, that thig is 250' long.

. Right now we're at about -25 or so. I haven't checked for a while so it's probably lower.
Tiger, I'm 99.9% sure Trillcat was using fahrenheit. The equivalent temp is -20 celsius - so not too far away from your chill factor!

We're sitting at -2F right now. Last night when we were out getting something to eat, it was about -12F I think, maybe -15. I hate cold, and can't wait until we move to Dallas.

It isn't that cold here, temps have been in the mid teens (f) We have the great lakes to moderate the temperatures a bit. But, there is a HUGE pay back for that. It comes in the form of snow....snow and lots more snow. We are under a lake effect snow warning until Sunday night. I am tired of it already
If it keeps up, we will have a couple feet of snow. Nothing new here, but I was hoping for an easy globar warming winer this year

Global warming my butt. lol Here we average about 6" of snow per winter, usually drawn out in a few small snowfalls of an inch or two. MAYBE we'll get upwards of a foot, if it's been a heavy snow year. Usually it doesn't really even start snowing until after January 1st and we don't often have a white Christmas. My birthday is Dec 13th and I can count on one hand how many times there has been snow on the ground for my birthday. THIS year, before Christmas we had TWO FEET of snow on the ground, and we hadn't even hit our heavy snowfall season yet. We don't have anywhere to put the snow we already have, let alone if we get more. It's been staying so cold that the snow we have hasn't been melting at all.

The temp here this morning was -4*, with a wind chill of -19*. Could be worse, I guess. I'd rather have a Midwest winter than a Midwest summer---after all, you can always put on more clothes, but you can only take off so many before you get arrested.

Yeah, it was -28 (F) in Sioux Falls this morning. And I had to carry the mail route. Brrrr. Well, if you know how to layer properly it's not too bad, but all my exposed skin (nose and cheeks mostly) was COLD!

When I think about how much I hate being cold, I remember how much I hate being hot... It's strange how you long for summer in winter and winter in summer... But my theory is..

It's better to be winter because while you can keep putting clothes on to stay warm, you can't take much off past your skin to cool down.

And I really hate those summer days where you just wish you could rip your skin off to cool down...
