Dory was cold, and he's battling a URI Lola brought into the house with her - so he decided to hijack the dog's blanket in front of the corn stove.

He's nestled right down in it, warm & toasty.

Aaaaw, so cute. What a beautiful cat with a gorgeous coat! I was laughing earlier as my cat was curled up on the rolled up king size duvet stretched out and snuggled in. Lovely aren't they?

He's being adorable, curled up. Now he's face planted into the blanket.
Even Gumby is cold, she's sleeping on top of the cat tree by the corn stove!

I've lived in California my entire life and have no idea what a "corn stove," is. Is it a stove that burns corn???? I feel really stupid!

No question is stupid when you don't learn about these types of things/they don't pertain to your location!

You can see the corn stove in the first picture, somewhat. It is a stove used not for cooking, but rather heating. We can burn either corn, or wood pellets in it. It's an alternate heat source. Since our basement is in ground, it is much cooler than the upstairs. So we invested in the corn stove to help heat the house - as the heat rises up from the basement to the upstairs, also. This is what we have.

Aw, poor Dory. Hope he feels better. I put a couple of old wool blankets on the floor and the cats turned them into nice, cozy nests. We aren't as cold here in Mich as you guys in MN.

ETA: they also like to plant themselves right in front of or on top of the heat registers.

Nat, first of all you are having way to much fun taking pictures of your adorable kitties tonight! Second, do you make house calls? No one takes photos like you do!

AWWWW that's adorable!! I absolutely
Camille (Gumby
). Of course I love Dory too, but there's just something about her. Every time I see a picture of her I just have to stop and stare for a minute. She's absolutely stunning.

Awww get better Dory for you.

They look so cute snuggling by the stove there. Those things are really awesome for heating. We had one in a house in Chicago those things are sooo worth it. Fireplaces are also awesome.

Awwwwww.

We have electric heat and it just doesn't heat like a stove would. So we use an electric blanket on the bed for the cats. Whenever we're home, it's turned on and the cats pretty much live back there during the winter. They do come to the kitchen for meals, but then it's right back to bed. Unless they find a lap. That'll work, too.
