No question is stupid when you don't learn about these types of things/they don't pertain to your location!
You can see the corn stove in the first picture, somewhat. It is a stove used not for cooking, but rather heating. We can burn either corn, or wood pellets in it. It's an alternate heat source. Since our basement is in ground, it is much cooler than the upstairs. So we invested in the corn stove to help heat the house - as the heat rises up from the basement to the upstairs, also.
This is what we have.
