IntroducingKato, our Bengal Cat

I have been on forums before but all seem to disappear after a time. Glad I found this one looking for information on the Bengal breed.
Seven 1/2 years ago we added a Bengal kitten to our family. It had been 2 year since we had an animal companion. for over 40 years we had German Shorthair Pointers. All but one got their CD, 2 had their CDX and one was UD trained but had no shows.had no. the last tone to enter the Rainbow Bridge hurt so bad we did not get another.
We are senior citizens and question the wisdom of getting another animal. to think we might not have had all the these years of joy with Kato and possibly he might not be alive. (I flame on another forum because we adopted an animal at our age)
Kato is a Bengal cat and is 5 generation on one side & 6 on the other side.from the Asian Leopard. We named him Kato after the green Hornet sidekick as both loves to pounce on their prey. We brought from a "backyard breeder" I knew it but my husband want a kitten so bad. The other breeder would not tell when we could get one of kittens or gave us a price. We had no desire to show or breed so that was okay with us. One thing she did was socialize the kittens.
For the first 6 years of his life Kato travel in a motor home with us. When we were park we attached his leash to the door of the motor home and he go go about 6 ft in all directions. he was never out on his leash unless one of us were presence. At first I worry. It wasn't long before I realize he could take care of himself. One and one-half years ago we gave up the motor home due to health reasons. We moved into a senior apartment, Kato came with us. he has adjust fairly well, but hunting his favorite activity and there is nothing to hunt around here. I am on Facebook & Cat Channel. I have a lot of pictures of Kato and will look for one to post on this site. there are pictures of Kato on my Pocketbook site, I will see about posting a link to it.

I found it hard to believe the party was upset as she felt the cat would end up in a kill shelter. she didn't even asked if we had made plans for a home for him after we pass. We have. I have never been flamed before.

A friend of mine has several Bengals. They are beautiful animals and so loving. They were very easy to rehome as they are such social animals.

Don't worry about your beautiful Kato if something should happen to you. Someone will be happy to give another loving home to him.

Enjoy him. Get a laser pointer as many cats love to chase the light. It might give him the feeling of hunting again.

Before we even brought Kato, one of my brothers agree to take him. His family had dogs & cats and even a snake. My sister-in-law fell in love with him at first sight and he with her.
Kato is very intelligent and figure out that there was nothing at the red light and it doesn't smell. He check out myself and saw the black box. He might play with the light for a few minutes. On anything new after he has satisfied himself about it, he looses interest. He has buried every treated we have brought. He doesn't care for catnip. I brought him a licklictly at Christmas. I can't get him to lick it even putting on his favorite gravy. When lived in the motor home he spent 90% of his time hunting. A walk is his favorite activity here. An example I had a call from one of his cat friend's Mom on the computer this morning. He saw his friend flam a little and left. He knew she wasn't around. He has many traits of the wild cat. German shorthairs are consider a very intelligent dog. His intelligence is a good as any of them and his scenting ability his as good if not better. He is our first cat, although we foster a feral cat for awhile. We found her a home where she could roam.
