Not sure if anyone is allowed to post the question of the day but since no one has yet, I will.

Do you turn off your computer at the end of the day or do you leave it on through the night. I turn mine off at the end of the day which can be as early as 7pm or as late as 11pm when I usually go to bed to watch TV. What do you do.

I leave mine on.
Blew out my monitor though it was on shakey legs to begin with.
It (the brain of the beast) whirrs and crabs at me all night, going form shut off to stand by to I dont even know what, I think it has invited neighbors over for tea. Is it best to just shut if off?

ETA: I have all my settings correct, it just does what it wants

I always shut mine off at night.
I was wondering if that's the best thing to do too. I think if it wasn't in the bedroom, then I'd probably just leave it on all the time.

I shut mine off. If I didn't, I would have to reboot all the time. It is an older computer and is a pain sometimes. It slows down if I leave it on too long. (It is already slow, but will slow down even more!)

I don't know for sure if turning it off at the end of the day is the correct thing to do, for me it is tho. There is no reason to keep it on when you're done for the day unless you have something that runs during the night and you must keep it on. My security runs once a week and I have it run around 5pm so no need for me to keep it on during the night. I know when I worked, we had to shut down the computer every single day, I think it's for the best but only my opinion

I turn mine off anytime I won't be online for a few hours. My uncle told me that if you don't turn it off it is riskier because the computer is always online susceptible to bad things.

Mine is turned off overnight, when I'm not home or won't be using it for a while.

I shut mine off at night and when i am away.....power here is somewhat shakey at times, and leaving it on one time cost me a hard drive and at others it has caused windows to eat itself, so now, it goes off

I use a laptop and always shut it off and unplug it when I'm not using it. I also charge it up to full and then unplug it and let the battery drain down to 7% before putting it back on AC power so my battery retains its "memory" for its use. I get about 5.5 hours on battery.

Mine stays on 24/7. It's a newer computer, so most things like processor speed and fans throttle down after it goes to sleep. My monitors and computer draw around 150W while in normal usage. After it goes into sleep mode, it drops to about 30W. That's pretty minor, so it's not really worth it for me to turn it off.

Mine is on all the time.

I hate turning it off and doing re-starts. It's takes too long for everything to come back up. And because it's old and cranky I'm always afraid that it won't come back.

Some days I am in and out of the computer room three or four times. It would be a pain to shut it off each time.

My CPU is on 24/7, but when I am done for the day, I push the "off" button on the monitor. I know I should power it down and take it off-line when I'm done....but I'm way too impatient to wait for it to power back up when I want to surf and read e-mail.

Interesting question!

Minie is on most of the time. I do turn it off when we're gone for the day or just whenever I feel like it. I'm online way too often to turn it off and on constantly.

Once turning it on in the morning or whatever time I get on, it stays on till I am thru with the computer for the day. I do not turn it on and off but once a day. It certainly would be a pain to turn it on and off multiple times.
