SunLee has finally adjusted, completely, to the household. Sorry for the lack of updates. I was computerless for a while. By October, she was moving freely about the house even with the dogs nearby. By November, she was sleeping on the bed, with the dogs and cats. One day I found her sleeping next to Tucker with their backs touching. It seemed he would be her special dog friend. I was so pleased with the harmony of the household. SunLee and ZoZo, the two quietest Siamese ever, have finally started to talk, another good sign.

Sadly, everything changed the day after Thanksgiving. Tucker, my epileptic dog, had a seizure that day. He stopped breathing. I did mouth to snout breathing for him and rushed him to the emergency hospital but they were unable to save him. I was (and still am) heartbroken. I knew his life would likely be shortened due to his severe epilepsy and many meds but I never expected sudden death at 3.5 y/o. Fortunately, I wasn't working that day so I was present when it happened. There is small comfort in that. He had a great day with the "family" and enjoyed his life up to the moment it happened. I don't think he suffered. When I was at the hospital, I was numb. I signed (and paid) to have him cremated. Well, the hospital lost him! When I discovered he had not arrived at the crematorium, I called the hospital. They refused to look for him, denied any responsibility, refused to help in any way. At my insistance, (and pleading), they finally searched their facility. They found him "in the back of their freezer". Since they had no credibility, I was forced to go identify my frozen dog. Did I mention this has been a horrible experience? End of story, he was finally cremated and has returned home.

What a horrible thing to go through with that emergency hospital.

Your unexpected loss was bad enough but then to have to fight to get your beloved Tucker's remains?
I would report them to the BBB and the state vet board.

I am so grateful that SunLee is settling in nicely.
Thank you for the update.
I hope that we see you more often here.

Thank you for the kind thoughts on Tucker. It helps.

More on SunLee. She is a delightful kitty. She has a very "happy" personality. I don't think she has any concept that not everyone feels that way (animal or human). She seems to be smiling all the time. She snuggles with ZoZo or Bruiser at will. You may recall, ZoZo was not a "cuddly" guy initially but that didn't stop SunLee. I think her agressively friendly efforts with him have made him the friendly guy he is now. Laid back Bruiser, at more than twice her size, is always ready for her to join him. SunLee loves all physical contact and purrs and purrs. She is now so calm with my big dog, Casey, that I have to watch her so she doesn't put her head in his bowl at mealtime! With the colder weather, I think her pale chocolate points are a shade darker. Her eyes are an amazing cornflower blue color and really stand out. She loves to perch and watch everyone. I think Hope would be pleased that she is safe and happy, and has feline and canine friends.

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
I'm so sorry to hear about Tucker
That was a horrible ordeal you had to go through, and shame on them at the other end
I agree with Lei, when you feel strong enough report them, because Tucker was your baby and you were having a traumatic time to start with without that happening.

Thank you so much for updating us on SunLee, we really appreciate it, and yes, Hope will be pleased that she's settled in her loving home

If you want, your more than welcome to put Tucker and a picture in the bridge forum and we'll light a candle for him there?

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Tucker, play happily over the bridge, sweetie.

I'm so sorry to hear about the problems with Tucker - beyond a worst nightmare, really! I can't imagine the heartbreak and torment of that awful situation.

As to SunLee... thank you for the update! I'm sure you can imagine the smiles this news brings.

to you for providing such a wonderful home.

About the hospital, what goes around comes around. They shut their doors a few days ago. The news reports are that two of the owners ripped off the third owner. That owner won a lawsuit, and rather than do the right thing, the two filed bankruptsy and left. No notice was given to employees or area vets or shelters. Class act, huh? Needless to say, my multiple calls to management went unanswered during the time they were open.

Wow, at least they're out of business now. What an apalling situation. For some reason, I always expect much better behaviour from vets.
My condolences on the sudden loss of Tucker.

Thank you so much for providing such a lovely happy home for SunLee. She landed on all four paws with you, that's for sure!

I'm so sorry you lost your sweet Tucker!
I cannot imagine how traumatizing it must have been to go through his passing, and then the nightmare with the hospital. It's horrible!

Thank you for giving us an update on Sun Lee. I'm sure Hope would be so happy to see Sun Lee so content, happy, and well cared for!

What a time you have been through! I am so sorry about Tucker, but at least he had a good, if short, life, and enjoyed it right to the last moment.

Wonderful news that Sunlee is settled well. It was such a traumatic time following Hope's sudden death, and it is great to have some good news of her animals.
