I'm starting to put my cat on Royal Canin Digestive Comfort 38 as she has a sensitive stomach and I have tried other foods like Wellness core which made her stools too tiny and she vomited at times. I have also tried other foods like Science diet, Natural Balance, and other holistic products. I just want to hear other people's thoughts good or bad and get some feedback is all.

I really don't like Royal Canin. Their recipes seem to be high in fillers and low in meat. I have never tried their cat food, but my 7 month old puppy came to me eating Royal Canin "baby dog" formula. I quickly switched her over to a more biologically appropriate food. She didn't eat it well at her breeder's house, and didn't really want it here either.
I am very picky though. I try to tell others "whatever food they thrive on is the right food for them". Good luck with the dietary change.

boomerkitty, what do you suggest on a cat who has a sensitive stomach and gets sick at times. My cat Misty has been on the wellness core for two and a half months now but is still vomiting at times and her stomach seems very sensitive like she looks like she's burping. LOL I know that sounds silly but that's what I see. Can you suggest another food better that is no corn, soy, wheat , by products and is less with fillers and more meat.

My suggestion is something like california natural ... it is one grain and one meat ...

I at this point would suggest avoiding grain free as they usually have multiple meats and veggies which can cause issue to..

BUT BUT BUT

You need to mix the foods together for about 3-4 weeks... ie say 1 cup of core was eaten

for week 1 3/4 cup core with 1/4 RC
week 2 50 /50
week three the reverse of week 1

If you don't want to break the bank I would suggest Acana. It should cost a bit less for you since you are in Canada and it is a Canadian product.

I went back into the pet store where they only sell holistic cat food and I told the lady to change the food I bought as I wasn't happy with the rice, corn , etc. so besides the Acana food there was another one called "Now" adult food that was grain free. So I'm trying it and slowly changing my cat from the wellness core which you all said was too rich and onto this "NOW" adult food. It has no grains , by products , rice etc and more meats and proteins. So I'm not going to put my cat on the wellness core, wellness products and the royal canin one which I bought "digestive comfort 38. I think she'll do good on this "NOW" as I went on the site for the food product and read some great reviews about it.

I hope your kitty does well on it... Looking at the ingredients my only concern is too little meat, too much carbs; which they also don't show the % in the analysis

Please make sure to transition your cat slowly. it should take about 10 days or more for a sensitive cat to transition to a new food, and I would consider adding probiotics to her diet too, to make things easier on her.
Changing dry foods can be hard on kitties, so I would advise to keep her on this food for a while. You will only know how she truly reacts to it, in 6-8 weeks. Give her body time to get rid of the other food completely, and adjust to this one...
If things don't work out, IMHO Orijen and Acana are really excellent choices... IMHO the best foods in the market. (Orijen is made by the same people, but higher end, and higher pricing - more meat, less carbs too AMAZING food).
Good Luck!!

I know who to change old food to a new food thanks. I've had many cats in the past. I never do probiotics. The store I bought the "NOW" product does have the other two you have mentioned and I have used the Acana and she didn't do well on it. I think she'll do fine with this one. I don't want to keep changing her to different foods as it will bother her system too much. They recommended this one as it was a new product compared to the Acana and Orijen. Thanks anyways for the advise but I'll do what is right for my Mistygirl.

Cats are tough in their own ways as cats used to be wild and would eat what they needed before they were domesticated. We as people are the ones who have messed up their systems with all these various foods that have so many different ingredients and you get health issues from them. If my cat Misty was wild on the street I'm sure she would find the right stuff to eat without all of this medical/health/nutritional problems that come with domestication.

There is a country in Europe where the cats run wild on the street and are never domesticated. Those cats do great. People worship them as sacred. I know we can't do that for cats here but one of the issues that is the biggest problem for cats is not nutrition but population as people don't spay and neuter their pets. I always do.

Here's an article I found about what I was talking about with cats and dogs that were not domesticated and their diets compared to ones that are domesticated.

Now is a solid food IMHO ... and hopefully she will do well on it ...

the article while intresting is missing solid facts of most scientific based ones...

well, I'm just going to stick with the dry food "NOW" , no probiotics. That's what's best for my cat.

Everybody wants what is best for your cat - why being so defensive? You came here for help and opinions, and we are only trying to help you

What is so bad about probiotics, and how do you know NOW! is the best for your cats, if you haven't even started feeding?

Many of us have cats who have sensitive stomachs - you are not alone in this battle... Including me, Sharky, and many others... We are trying to share our experiences with you, so you don't waste your time, money, or worst, your cat's health. Believe me when I say that my cat Bugsy is the king of sensitive stomach. Probiotics have done a great job for MANY cats here at TCS, and outside - it is just one more weapon in the fight to keep them healthy.

As for you having many cats in the past, and knowing about food transition... Well... I am 35, had cats all my life (actually from the day I was born...), and didn't know until TCS. My neighbor is 69, always had cats, never done it once. My friend is 47, also cats all her life - never transitioned. I meant no harm, and I am sorry if you too it that way, but I was making sure to cover all basis...

So, I hope things work for your kitty and that you get to enjoy TCS with an open mind... It can truly be a life saver.
